The barbed wire fences lined a huge base with looming force. The team prepared a divide and conquer type plan which had Ghost and one other on a building adjacent to the base. On the right side were Soap, Gaz, and 2 other guys. The misson was simple, retrieve the stolen contraband and get back to HQ in one piece. Not so bad right?

On the top of the building alongside Ghost was the newest recruit of 141. His skills with snipers were undeniable, and his strength in close up combat was just as good. This unfortunately caused a tension between Ghost and the new recruit. Ghost wasn't one to be outdone and the only time they weren't competing was in the field.

Side by side, breathing almost in sync, the two snipers watched the space closely. A slight crackle in the new recruits ear let him know the time to strike. Price was overseeing the operation and informed everyone on the status. A heavy accent grumbled in acknowledgement and nodded at the recruit.

Ghost had eyes that pierced through anyone, and to no surprise it began to phase the new member.

They locked eyes for only a moment but Ghost wouldn't look away. His eyes were bright and dim at the same time. Scars of battle haunting them, yet a slit of hope could be found.

"You going to stare forever?" He questioned softly.

Realizing his actions the recruit blushed and looked away, still in a daze.

Suddenly, Price yelled over the comms that the plan was starting. Ghost and the recruit both grabbed their snipers and began picking off targets. As they cleared the path, 141 began running through the corridors.

"On your left!" The recruit yelled as Soap climbed onto a rooftop.

Soap quickly turned and shot the enemy, continuing upward.

One by one the men worked together to clear the base and watch over their comrades. After clearing the area, new orders were shared.

"Soap and Gaz, you must find the contraband and let us know when" Price commanded.

"Alongside them I want no one going in or out of the space. Understood?"
He said with a fierce intensity.

"Yes sir" Soap replied

"Ghost and Aspen(recruit) you will cover them, if you see anyone let me know."

"Copy that sir" Aspen replied.

For the next 10 minutes, there was no one in sight. As well as silence from Soap's group. While waiting, Ghost seemed to avoid looking at the recruit.
His eyes persistently scanned the area and Aspen tried to do the same. Unfortunately Ghost was hard to avoid looking at.

He had broad shoulders and strong arms that were hidden by his gear. As Aspen took in his features a loud crack shattered the silence.

"Soap whats going on down there!?" Ghost yelled into his comms

"We retrieved the contraband but the security features notified them we collected it." He replied shakily.

"What the hell does that mean?!" Price yelled.

"They're coming. An entire force." Soap announced

"GET OUT OF THERE SOAP!" Price commanded
"Ghost, Aspen, cover them IMMEDIATELY!" He yelled.

Everything happened quickly after that moment. Aspen held his sniper close, fearing the approach of more hostiles. Ghost remained composed but there was something in his eyes that said otherwise.

Movement in the corner of Aspen's eyes took his attention from Ghost. Gaz was running with Soap and the other men close behind. They vaulted on top of the building beside him and scrambled up the side. Leaning over the side of the roof Aspen pulled them up and over, calling to Ghost for help. Together they collected the group and the contraband.

"Where are you?" Price asked, sounding out of breath

"We are on the roof to the left of the entrance." Gaz replied.

"Hold tight, we'll be at your position soon." Price responded calmly.

While waiting Soap and Ghost discussed the current state of the contraband. Aspen stayed in the corner of the building, avoiding conversation. Ghost looked happy when he talked to Soap, which was rare. He didn't smile much, but it wasn't like anyone could tell.

Without warning, Gaz yelled "LOOK OUT!"
An explosion shattered the silent base. As tanks and men approached from the left at a high speed.

The reinforcements had arrived.

"SHIT SHIT SHIT!" Gaz yelled

"PRICE WE'VE GOT TROUBLE, AN ARMY OF TROUBLE!" Ghost yelled

"This helicopter doesn't go much faster. Cover yourselves, we are almost there." Price responded quickly

Pulling out his sniper Aspen began taking out some of the hostiles entering the base. Ghost did the same while Soap and his men layed flat to avoid fire.

A flash caught Aspen's eyes as a bullet zoomed just past his arm. There was  heat and and pain as blood seeped through his shirt. Checking his left he noticed the wound and began to lose feeling his shoulder.

"Shit! They have snipers too, watch out!" Aspen called rolling onto his back. Another bullet whizzed past his head as he scooted back to where Gaz was waiting.
