14.The story

*3rd Pov*

Eren takes a deep breath in"There's something you don't know about our families Mikasa, Something big and it relates to why Levi has gone so long and why I'm here staying with you aswell."

Mikasa stared at him in bewilderment"I don't follow"

"Our families are rivals.Like big rivals.It started a long time ago,with our great great great grand parents and something.Some rivalry in Germany and now it's affecting out families but we are lucky to get away,our parnets,not so much."

"Our parents,what do you mean?Why did they die?"Mikasa starts breathing uncontrollably,the thought of her parents dying triggered something inside her.

The distressed man, suddenly grips her into a tight hug ,comforting her.His Bony,red hands encased her into his grip,their breaths colliding.
No words could comfort her, except the presence of her companion,Eren.

She got away from him,loosening herself from his grip and faced him,he voice nasally from all the crying"So why did they die?"She asked,her eyes swollen from crying.

Eren rubbed his hands on his lap,and took a deep breath,then turned to face her."They died because they tried to fix this,they tried to make peace,but it failed"

Mikasa was silent, her mouth open from shock,all this time she was right,all this time her parents died for the good,why did noone tell her.Her hair, flowed as the wind,coming from her window brushed against her, sending goosebumps down her spine,but she didn't care.She wanted to know.

"How come you know?"
She didn't look at him,she wanted to hear it from him,and not be distracted by his gaze.

"Zeke."he said promptly.

Her mind froze.

"Zeke?"she questioned"What does Zeke have to do with any of this?"

Before he could answer there was a knocking in their door.
Frightened,Mikasa jolted up,gripping her hand with Erens.
Their eyes gazed upon each other,each wondering what the other was thinking about this moment.Suddenly,Mikasa pulled away,thinking that maybe Eren might be dating Hitch and she wouldn't want to mess things up.

The flustered girl,ran downstairs to pick up the mail,distracting her self from the interaction she had with Eren.

'Mikasa and Eren:'

"Erennn"She called out his,name whilst still staring at the letter.She never got letters.She wondered who would send some to both,Eren and Mikasa.

The letter looked battered.Like someone grabbed it and ran off with it.There were mud marks slid across the long,narrow letter.It was like it was dried there,like the letter was supposed to come a long time ago,she thought.

Eren came running downstairs and saw the envelope she was holding.They both exchanged eyecontact before Mikasa ripped the envelope open,by the side aggressively.

The letter consisted of a torn peice if paper,folded.She opened it up,placing the envelope in the table next to her aimlessly.

She read out the letter.

To Mikasa and Eren,

I am hoping this letter came to you and even if you see this sentence it's a miracle that you have.Mikasa,I told you I was going to Japan put the truth is that's I'm here in Germany.Im sorry that I lied to you ,but I thought I was able to protect you but all I could do is far from that.
Something happened.I am not safe and you are not safe ,and at this present moment I am probably in a hospital room,or dead.Eren,I told you to stay with Mikasa to protect the one chance if peace for our people.As this is the worst,realistic case scenario,you need to be careful.People are out for you.
Mikasa ,I'm sorry if this all comes new to you but I didn't want to drag you into this but for your own safety you have to know this.
Don't try to fix it but just know that your life is going to change.

With that the letter was done.
Words could not come out of their mouths,Mikasa was hearing this the first time and all she thought was her uncle,the one family she had was in danger.She wanted to do something about it but she couldn't.What could she do?All the martial arts she learnt was good for a while,but Levi was the best and if Levi got defeated by those guys,they were dangerous.

Tears flowed out of her eyes, imprinting on the letter.She couldn't hold it in,her throat tightened as she tried to cough back her tears but it couldn't work.All she had was Eren and she didn't want to lose him.As Eren, awkwardly tried to hug her she ran out,carrying her emotions with her,it was too much for her to handle.She needed to be alone.She grabbed her coat,dropped the letter and ran out.
The last words she heard was Eren shouting for her
