Through a cluster of pine trees, he spotted the lights of an old cabin in the distance.

Renewed hope filled his chest.

San bumped into his tail.

San emitted a low, almost annoyed growl under his breath.

He whipped his head, giving San a glare, That shut up the other Alpha immediately.

San raised his head, They both eyed the cabin.

He wasn't sure what to make of it, Did the pack San mention live here?

It made sense, He could hear running water nearby. A river.

Maybe the occupants of the cabin relied on the river for their water supply.

The sound of hurrying paws drew his attention forward.

The last thing he expected was a red-tailed fox to appear.
