JIMIN POV

He thought about what he wanted to say to Jungkook as they left the house through the kitchen's back door.

A winding path led to them to a wild garden. Through a rampant tangle of vines and bushes, red and white roses bloomed.

He forgot about the incident earlier that made his stomach queasy.

"It's pretty out here." he whispered, gazing at the flowers.

He approached one bush and brushed one hand against a single crimson petal.

"Yeah, well, you're being polite."

"The garden's a mess. We planned to tackle this area of the house eventually but everyone's been busy." Jungkook explained.

"Tae suggested we can grow some edibles once we're able to make space."

Jimin continued down the path.

Part of the rock walkway was falling off, Jimin envisioned himself clearing the garden with the others, working elbow to elbow with Jungkook, maybe.

When the afternoon sun bore down on their heads, Jungkook might just peel off his shirt and—Jimin cut that line of thought.

He wasn't part of the Busan pack, Jungkook wasn't his Alpha.

He was no one. He didn't fit in this perfect little picture.

For a second, he'd been scared that Joon and San would go after each other's throats.

Kai and his Alphas always settled arguments with violence.

He should've known things with this pack was different.

San and Joon might've not made up yet but they settled down so the kids wouldn't witness them fighting.

What was he even doing here?

Jungmin needed him, He remembered.

What happened once he fulfilled his purpose?

Jungkook encouraged him to work for his dream but was that even possible for someone like him?

Jungkook brushed a hand up his arm, His skin tingled from that simple touch.

Jungkook's hand was big, warm and rough but Jimin decided he liked Jungkook's rough touch.

"Hey, you look like you're thinking deep thoughts." The alpha remarked.

"Talk to me, Jimin."

It wasn't a command.

Jungkook simply wanted to know what he was thinking.

Another oddity. Kai gave zero shits about his options.

He had no voice in Kai's pack
or his own home, where his
parents dictated his every action.

At first He debated lying to Jungkook but he thought better of it. The Alpha deserved better.

"I keep wondering where I fit in this picture." he said.

"I don't belong here Jungkook, not with you or your pack."

"You haven't stayed here for more than a day." Jungkook reminded him.

The Alpha spun him by the shoulder, forcing Jimin to look him in the eyes. "You can't make rash conclusions like that, Don't I get a say when it comes to us?"

"There is no us." Jimin reminded Jungkook.

"Not yet." Then Jungkook fisted his shirt and pulled Jimin close.
