JUNGKOOK POV

Jungkook couldn't remember the last time he'd been this angry.

Sure, he went off the rails when he discovered Jungmin went missing and Young had been murdered but this?

A different kind of rage started in the pit of his stomach like a small flame that only got bigger the more Heath spoke.

The Omega sounded so matter-of-fact, so indifferent when he told Jungkook how his parents sold him off to Kai for some cold, hard cash.

What kind of parents did that?

Jimin fell silent. "That's it."

"There's nothing more to say, I'm so sorry I grabbed Jungmin and ran. I didn't know what to do."

"I knew Jiwoo and Lee were incapable of raising a child."

"I became desperate."

The Omega started shaking so badly, Jungkook slung one arm around Jimin's shoulders and pulled him close.

If Jimin showed any sign of resistance, Jungkook would immediately back away.

He didn't want to frighten him unnecessarily, Jimin had been through so much but the Omega didn't pull away.

He leaned into Jungkook's embrace, Jimin's neediness reminded him of a mistreated puppy. One that had never known kindness his entire life.

Damn it. He couldn't develop any sort of attachment to this lost and broken Omega.

He had too much on his plate.

Apart from taking care of burial arrangements for Young and Jinwoo, Hobi and he spoke to Agents Taemin and Bam two days ago.

They let the Police Investigative Unit handle the dead bodies of the Alphas in the cabin.

For now, Jungkook had custody of Jungmin but what if that too was temporary?

He'd been told a social worker would pay the pack house a surprise visit in a month or so.

Was Jungkook even ready to tackle fatherhood when his own son was frightened of him?

He didn't blame Jungmin.

His little boy was probably still traumatised by everything that had happened.

In their own way, Young and Jinwoo had done nothing wrong after all.

He could imagine Young handing Jungmin to Jinwoo so the two could escape when they discovered a crazed Alpha had been after them.

They were victims of a random attack. He blew out a breath.

None of it made any sense.

Then again, sometimes reality was like that.

In a twisted way, He got his son back but at a terrible price.

"Are you mad at me?" Jimin finally asked in a small voice.

"No It's the exact opposite, I'm glad you took Jungmin and tried to run from your pack mates."

"They were never my pack mates I was just the help." Jimin said in a heated voice.

Jungkook smiled.

He thought Jimin would feel completely defeated.

Anyone in Jimin's situation would have curled up into a ball and given up.

Glimpsing the spirited side of Jimin made him reevaluate his opinion of the Omega.

Jimin had guts.

Despite knowing he'd been outnumbered, he had taken Min and escaped that horrible cabin.
