Gods and Monsters
By: Lana Del Rey}Cancer pov:
Sometimes I wonder if the life I'm living is real.
You know?
When things get too good.
Too perfect.
And I have nothing to complain about.
That scares me.
I let my eyes dance around, moving from place to place as different things draw my attention.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Moon asks me smiling just enough that I can see a gap in his front teeth.
I responded nodding still taken in awe of the books lined up for miles. The golden sun from the windows seemed to be the only light source needed in the room.
"Yeah, I used to go here all the time to just relax and collect my thoughts. Sometimes it gets hard in the tower. The responsibility's and all. People can be mistaken for thinking you have a perfect life." He ranted, leading me down endless hallways of knowledge. "But it never was like that here."
I stopped at one section as a purple spine cover caught my curiosity. Pulling it out, I flipped through the pages a bit. "Why did you take me here?" I said looking up at him.
"Well, I figured you needed a break. With training and school and all the stress-" I interrupted him.
"Is there something going on?" I shut the book and held it in my grip.
"No. Nothings going on." He waved his hands around in defense.
I gave him a questioning look before he spilled.
"Okay, you got me. Nothing is going on, yet. People are speculating that something- well, someone, might be coming back and they want to cause trouble. But it's no big deal because me and the others will have it all figured out in no time." He gave me a reassuring smile.
"WHAT!" I shouted and a few people looked over at us.
"Shhhhhh!" He frantically put his fingers over my mouth. "You can't tell anyone! I wasn't even supposed to tell you!"
I ripped his hand off my face to speak, "Moon, you're saying there is someone out there that is trying to hurt us and instead of doing something or telling someone you took me to a library!" I whispered screamed, trying not to bring anymore attention to ourselves but still wanted to get the message over.
He sighed, "Technically, I didn't say they were going to hurt us I just said they were causing trouble."
"What is that even supposed to mean!" I brushed my hair out with my hands trying to calm down. "Look, it was hard for me to come out here and do this whole training thing in the first place, ok? I had to leave my family behind. My friends. My life! And I did not come here for you to tell me that some crazy ass psycho is going to ruin it."
"I know Cancer, I understand. I had to do that once too." He grabbed me and walked me over to a chair, "The truth is something happened a long time ago with a person. They didn't take some news well and ended up wanting revenge. Luckily we got rid of them the first time, but now it seems they want seconds."
"Do you think you guys will be able to 'get rid of them' this time?" I glanced at him and he sighed.
"I... I don't know. We can try. But they seem to be coming back bigger, better and smarter. It's complicated, but we can get through this. And I promise when we do you and all the others will be able to rule peacefully. Okay?"
I fidgeted with my nail polish, chipping some off. "Okay, one more question though."
"Fire away."
"Does this, by any chance, have to do with Mrs.Lea and Ophi?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
He turned to me, "No. It shouldn't. What gave you that idea?"
"Oh well- "
Should I say it?
"Scorpio, Cap and Pi said they over heard them talking about someone and they think that it might be...serious. But I wasn't there though so it could have been nothing." I confessed not really expecting any significant reaction.
His face changed into a more serious look, "When was this?"
"Last week. I think Thursday." I told him.
He got up quickly, "Okay, I have to make a quick call. You stay here, enjoy the scenery. I'll be back."
Before I could make any rebuttals he grabbed his phone and wallet but most importantly- the car keys.
And now it's just me and 8 floors of books. Speaking of, I looked down at the purple one that I had been holding this whole time.
'The 13 gods and goddesses' the title read. The symbols looked familiar as I ran my fingers through the gold ink.
I opened it to the first cover and started to read...
'A legend. 'No more than that' they said. But as always, someone will take it too far.
It will change, grow and flourish; like a religion or a promise to a village. But things like that, so rare and simmering, often go bad in a matter of moments. And no matter how hard you may try to hide the fact that something- or someone is missing you can never forget. Maybe that's what happened with these twelve. Maybe they just couldn't help themselves. Greed and glory got in the way of a fair fight of equality. Or maybe they just took it too far..."I shut the book quickly and ran up to checkout before calling Pieces.
"Hurry! I'm downtown at this really nice library and I found something you're going to want to see."
"Okay, okay, I'm coming!" I heard him say in the other side of the phone, "I'll be there in 10, can you wait?"
"I can try."
"Good enough." He said before hanging up.
I pushed my phone back into my pocket before looking down at the book again.
Holy shit were the 13 gods and goddesses.
But there's only 12 of us?

Ok very productive chapter I think. We're getting into the plot line more and more so thats exciting I know we just want to get into the action and ships and all that but I feel like it's also important to show how it was leading up to this point like what they are feeling and stuff and the number one way to write good characters are emotions and background info so when we get into all the action you won't be too confused about what's going on. ALSO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR 3k READS YOU GUYS ARE INSANE!
LOVE YOU GUYS THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS IT REALLY MAKES ME HAPPY TO SHOW MY WORK BUT ALSO TO SEE YOU GUYS COMMENTING AND VOTING THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU❤️❤️❤️

Fiksi UmumFist slammed against the table and everyone turned to her, "I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not allowing my city to just sit and rot here. We're going to find those 12 kids we need. I don't care what it takes." She announced to the room. ...
