Chapter 16 - Dear Reader

Leo Pov:

'Greed can make a man do foolish things. He can take for granted what he has and over complicate his own life. To be ambitious and desirable is something that is too far fetched for a sign such as the Leo. For as long as there is more greed than empathy, there shall always be suffering.'

"I don't understand." Capricorn said from beside me.

"Neither do we." Pisces sat down next to Cancer.

He sighed, "No but seriously, how do they know us? This book was written at least 50 years ago- maybe more. We weren't even born yet. And then how did they know we were going to be the new rulers?" Cap rambled on.

I flipped a few pages down, until I saw Capricorn's name, and started to read.

'To fight it or accept it. To fear it or control it. It is all the same to him. Every thought passing, it all begins and ends in his mind. The non stopping anxiety of what and who to give power to?  And, if any, when will they take power over you? Training a mind to be tougher than his own emotions. Maybe that's a possibility only a sign such as a Capricorn will understand.'

I looked up at him as he talked with his hands.

"Okay we don't even know this!" Sagittarius stepped in, "Yes it's a little weird that they know all this but this could just be a crazy conspiracy that some old guy with too much time on his hands made up and we're all believing it. If you really wanna know and you're that concerned then just ask Ohpi or something."

"No!" Everyone in the room shouted and Sag raised her hands up in defense.

"We're not asking Ohpi. For all we know he could be a suspect." Libra declared as Scorpio and Sagittarius shared a look.

I shut the book and put it down beside me, "I think Sag has a point though." I started, "How do we know this is even true. We need to ask somebody."

"Ok, but who?" Aquarius turned to me. "We can't ask The Planets because we aren't even supposed to know. And I'm assuming The Queen is off the board too then. Ohpi is a obvious no. None of our teachers will know anything. Who would we possibly ask that could help us with...that." She pointed to the book next to me.

Everyone sat thinking for a minute until Taurus spoke up, "Didn't it say that there was a set of rulers before the planets? The ones who originally kicked Ofiuco out? What if we talk to them."

I looked over at Cancer, who looked at Pisces, who looked at Cap, who looked at Aqua.

"What do you think?" Cap asked, mainly talking to Aquarius.

"I'm fine with it but we don't know how to find them." She brought up which caused another wave of silence.

I turned to the book and flipped through the pages until I found my answer. "Astéri kingdom." I held up the book to Cap as he took it and looked at it.

"That's five hours from here." Aries complained.

"Whatever, it's the closest thing we got." Cap sighed.

Gemini got up and grabbed the keys off of the counter, "Well, are we going or not?"

Sag jumped off the couch and stood next to her, "Road trip!" She smiled.

"Ok, that settles it. Gem you take your car, Pi will take his, Cap and Leo you can take yours." Aqua announced.

"Woah, woah, woah! I'm not taking my car five hours away! It can nearly make it to school." I protested.

"Seems unlikely since your the only other one who brought a car all the way here. Which should I mention is five hours away." Scorpio sarcastically said looking over at me.

"He's right. We only have three cars and 12 people. You gotta make it work." Aries patted my shoulder and grabbed my keys before leaving with the rest of the group.

"This is bullshit." I mumbled before snatching the book off the couch and following him out.

Sagittarius pov:

It was decided that we would all ride in our normal training groups, which means I was with Aries and Leo. At first I would've complained about that but they actually aren't that bad.

"So..what are we expecting?" I asked them from the back seat.

"I honestly have no idea," Aries told me, "What are we even supposed to ask them? 'We think the guy you kicked off of your little club 50 years ago wants to kill us.' "

Leo turned left as the map lady on his phone with a British accent told him to. "I don't know man, what if nobody is even there?"

"You're just mad because you have to drive your sweet precious baby all the way to Astéri" I teased him and he rolled his eyes.

"My moms payed good money for this car I'm not gonna ruin it on some mission to find the bad guy." He stated proudly.

We all laughed before Aries suggested a game of truth or dare.

"Truth or dare Leo?" Aries asked.

"Truth because if I say dare you're going to tell me to wreck the car or some shit."

"Okay," he smiled, "what's the craziest thing you've done while drunk?"

Leo looked at us then back at the road, "You know I've never actually gotten drunk before?"

"What!?" I shouted, "You've never gotten drunk?"

"I mean I've drank stuff but I've never gone full force on anything." He confessed.

"Not even at a party?" Aries asked as shocked as me.

"Nope." He popped the P and glanced over at us again, "Is that so hard to believe?"

I thought for a moment, "I mean.. yeah. I just figured you would be the type to."

"The type to what?" He questioned.

"I don't know. Get loose, have fun, drink some beer-"

"Oh no, no, honey, I only drink champagne." He interrupted me.

"Oh so sorry your madam!" I acted offended while holding my hands up. "I didn't know you were so picky."

We all laughed at him again before playing a few more rounds of the game.

After some time had past the car was pretty silent. The sun had start to set now and the pinks and blues were reflecting in the car through the window. I looked out into the street and watched as people talked and bantered around.

I sighed and turned my focus to a different part of the car as the purple book everyone had been fantasizing about laid next to me. I opened it up and flipped through the pages stopping as one caught my eye.

'Always searching. Always restless. Nothing is ever good enough. Not quite greed. Not quite anger. But homesickness. Being scared of every hello because she doesn't want to risk another goodbye. Then pacing around the empty room in her heart wondering what to give of herself next. How can a sign like Sagittarius be homesick if she doesn't know where home is?'

The book is going to play a big role in the future and so are all the fortunes about the signs (that's what I'm gonna call them) we're now into the action part of the book so stuff is going to start happening and plot twist are going to start twisting!
