Once again, all the parents' had been called into Mrs. Lynn's office. Unfortunately, this time their kids weren't allowed to come to the academy with them.
Mrs. Lynn sat in her office chair while everyone else stood. They all knew what the headmaster was going to say, and they already hated it.
"Spit it out already," Mrs. Puckerman crossed her arms.
Mrs. Lynn sighed. "I'm sure you're all aware of the harsh outcome if your children don't pass these tests." Everyone nodded. "I don't know what's going to happen for each test, because each challenge is different depending on the child. But i'm guessing because there's four children this time, their bravery test is going to be marked on bravery and courage. When there's one person you're the one who has to be strong, but when there's several people, it's easy to fright and rely on your peers. I don't know what the judges are going to do, but it's going to be big, and it's going to scare your kids," Mrs. Lynn said.
"Which is why it's the test of bravery?" Mr. Fabray asked.
Mrs. Hudson went wide eye. "Whatever they make, it's going to scar our children."
Mrs. Lynn shook her head and nervously looked everyone in the eye.
"Yes, this will scare them, but it won't be nearly as bad as the last challenge. That will give them nightmares for the rest of their lives."
Everyone nodded understandingly. No one wanted their child to have nightmares, but this school was important to all of the families._____
Once again, the students stood on the school field. The three judges standing in front of them. The middle judge stepped forward, looking down on the children.
"Your bravery test will begin now. You'll have a time limit to defeat the creature. If you don't succeed, you fail the whole test instantly," He said.
Finn raised his arm quicker than light. The middle judge pointed to him and Finn took a small gulp before speaking.
"That's a little unfair, isn't it?" He asked.
The right judge devilishly glared, "This is the highest academy in the kingdom. And don't forget, you broke the law. You children are facing the right amount of consequences right now."
The quaternion depressingly nodded and remained silent. The judges took that as a sign the kids were ready and stepped off to the side, leaving the children alone on the field.
"You'll have ten minutes. Fail, then you can call coming back to this academy off!" The left judge shouted.
The teens expected the ground to rumble again, but this time, a deafening screech echoed in the air as a giant gryphon soared at full speed. Like last time, all the children screamed and split up. Fighting off bees and wasps was one thing, but fighting a gryphon with massive-sharp talons, was another thing.
It stretched out it's front legs as it swooshed down trying to grab ahold of Puck. Puck threw himself on the ground and covered his head as the gryphon breezed past him.
All the adults stood anxiously on the sidelines. Their children were panicking again, and there was nothing they could do to help.
The gryphon landed and started running toward Santana. Instinctively, she squealed and created a fire shield. The gryphon slashed the shield with its claws before turning around and running after Finn next.
Unlike everyone else, all he was able to create were small lasers. He hadn't mastered his powers to create much more like his friends. Finn shot a laser in the gryphons eye, but that only made the mythical creature more angry. It roared and thrashed Finn in the air. The young teen screamed as he was about to hit the ground.
Finn closed his eyes and immediately opened them when he realised he hadn't collided with the dirt, but instead, he was completely submerged in a giant water ball. The water popped and Finn fell to the ground.
He looked to Puck and gave him a thankful smile.
The giant gryphon turned and faced Quinn. In a heartbeat, it lunged toward her. Quinn took a quick breath and shot several vines out of the ground to throw the gryphon off course. But the gryphon knocked the vines down like they weren't even there.
The gryphon jumped into the air at the blonde. Quinn froze. Everything moved so fast for everyone, but for Quinn, the scene played out in slow motion.
The gryphon tackled Quinn to the ground and started clawing at her. Quinn used her vines as a shield to stop each attack. The girl heard her parents screaming from the distance, and she heard her friends screaming as they ran to help her.
Quinn screamed and wrapped a thorn bush around the gryphon. The gryphon let out ungodly sounds as each thorn pricked its body. Quinn quickly slid out from underneath the gryphon and watched as Santana set the thorn bush on fire. A few seconds later, the bush's flames went out, and everyone watched in horror as the gryphon doubled in size.
"How on earth are we supposed to defeat this?!" Puck shouted.
"I don't know, but we better think of something quickly- LOOK!" Santana pointed at the gryphon.
The gryphon was prowling toward the group, growling with every step it took. The group linked hands and took small steps backwards.
They needed to figure something out soon, or else they'd be the gryphons lunch.
All of a sudden, Puck got a great idea. He let go of his friends' hands and placed both of his arms in front of him. A large circle of water that shot up into the air formed around the gryphon.
"Everyone, create a giant shield, and hurry!" Puck ordered.
His friends nodded and did as he ordered.
Santana was first to go. She used all her strength to make a fire ring around the gryphon. Quinn was left, but she hesitated.
"What's wrong?" Finn asked."I can't create my shield, it'll just burn to a crisp!" Quinn said, "Puck! You need to create another water barrier behind Santana's fire barrier!"
Puck groaned. That involved using his head, and he was having trouble enough using it on this one shield.
He took a deep breath and another water barrier formed around Santana's fire barrier.
Quinn quickly summoned large vines that curved all over the barrier. Blocking off the top, and making sure there were no spots left visible on the sides. Around that barrier, Quinn then formed thorn bushes. A giant tree burst out of the ground and curved around the barrier. The gryphon wasn't getting out even if it wanted to.
Finn watched closely. He felt incredibly useless right now.
A loud chime echoed, slightly scaring everyone but the judges.
A small, devastated round of applause was heard from the distance. The teens turned and saw the three judges bitterly looking at them.
"You can remove the barriers. The gryphon's gone," The middle judge declared.
The teenagers did as he said and removed the barrier. And like he said, the gryphon was gone.
Quinn, Santana, Finn, and Puck walked over to everyone.
"I can't say yous were brave, but you certainly did wonderous things out there- such as cower," The right judge grinned.
"I expect more from you children tomorrow," The middle judge said.
They all nodded and thanked them. No one liked these judges, but they were doing everything they could to be kind and respectful, hoping that might increase their chances of being re-accepted.
Without saying anything else, the judges walked off, leaving everyone alone.
The teens turned to their parents and headmaster, hoping for some good news. But even they looked slightly disappointed.
"Lets just go," Mrs. Puckerman said.
Everyone nodded. Each heading their own ways after leaving Green Meadow Academy's grounds.
As Finn and his parents were walking down the town's shopping district, Mr. and Mrs. Hudson became side tracked and began shopping for their house. Finn grunted and ventured away from them, and he was glad he did.
Right out of ears reach, Finn heard three familiar voices. Without making his presence known, he kept his back toward them and made it seem like his was tying his shoes.
"These children won't pass," The right judge laughed.
"No one's ever passed! We just make it seem like they do," The let judge chuckled.
"The brats are just wasting their time- and for our pleasure! They failed from day one, and there's nothing they can do to change our minds," The middle judge said.
'What on earth?! They've been leading us on!' Finn angrily thought.
Finn stood up and walked away. There was no way he could tell his friends about this, it would affect their ability to do any tasks! But one thing was for certain, Finn and his friends were going to change their minds, even if it was the last thing they did.
