Puck's eyes fluttered open, as he felt the warmth of what seemed like a furnace on his skin. He tried to stand, but immediately fell back down when he felt something around his wrists pull him back to the ground. Soon everything around him came into focus. He was sitting by a fire throne, and so were a bunch of other civilians. When he payed closer attention to everyone else, he noticed their wrists were all chained to the ground. Puck looked down to his wrists and noticed his were too!
Puck looked at the throne, then to where the throne was facing. A massive double door with a giant green fire symbol immediately caught Puck's attention.
Puck grunted as he swapped positions, trying to get a better view at everything around him.
All of a sudden, the doors opened and a small army of people piled into the room, facing the throne.
They whispered amongst themselves as they pointed and cackled at everyone chained up.
Puck was then caught by surprise when he heard another door open. He glanced behind himself and noticed two women walking into the room.
One had dark hair, with a sharp jawline, and brown eyes that captivated everyone who dared look her in the eye.
The other girl had blonde hair, with a thinner face structure. Her smile hid all the lies she told, and it was obvious.
The two women wore matching outfits. Blazing hot dresses that flowed to their ankles. Their dresses were red, with a hint of orange. They wore smaller crowns on their heads with a small fire symbol.
The women took their places, standing on either side of the throne.
A few moments later, Puck heard the sound of heels clicking. He turned back around and noticed someone much higher dressed then everyone else.
She practically wore the same dress as the other two women, only hers was blue, with hints of green shining through. She had a cane with an emerald, with fire carvings along the wood. And her crown stood high, with the exact same symbol that was on the door.
But most importantly, the one thing that caught Puck's attention most, was that the woman was almost identical to Santana.
The woman took a seat on the throne and raised a hand in the air to quiet everyone that was still whispering.
"Silence, my people. Two nights from now, is the big night. We'll take over the land that was once taken from us," the woman said. "Grace Shelby and Grace Terri are going to be in charge of finding and capturing everyone, and it's up to all of you to help them succeed. As you're aware, there's a lot of people on the grounds above us, and that's just too much work for two people. If you wish to decline the order, then feel free to find yourselves with the captees." The woman smirked after, raising everyone's hairs.
A man in the crowd raised his hand.
"Queen Lennox. How are we supposed to capture everyone? Won't the 'fairies' use their magic on us?" He asked.
Queen Lennox shrugged and slowly laughed.
"They will. But you're also able to use your magic, so perhaps you should train within these two days and prey to god- err, or should i say, Satan? That you're stronger than everyone else," Queen Lennox said.
The man gulped.
Sure, they knew they were taking over the kingdoms, but they had no idea they were going to help capture everyone.
Queen Lennox cleared her throat and rose to her feet. The queen glared down at everyone before turning around and grinning from ear to ear when she noticed several of the captees already awake, or waking up.
Queen Lennox glanced down at Puck, but he didn't react. He was too focused on her features. Her eyes, her facial structure, her voice, and even the way she stood, all matched Santana's appearance. It quite literally felt like Puck was just looking at an older version of his friend.
"Cat got your tongue?" Queen Lennox towered over Puck.
Puck was brought out of his trans and nervously looked at the queen.
"W-what?" He stuttered.
"Typical men. Don't listen to anything anyone has to say nowadays," Queen Lennox sneered. "I said, you're lucky. The rest of your people will be joining you soon. Perhaps your parents will join you too- if they're not dead," she smirked.
"Why are you doing this?" Puck asked. "You have your own kingdom, why can't you cater to that rather than steal ours?!"
"Silly boy, i used to rule the land you once walked on. I'm just taking it back. Oh, but don't worry. You'll still be able to walk up there, you'll just be doing slavery," Queen Lennox shrugged.
"This isn't fair! We already have a King ruling our kingdom, you can't take their job!" Puck argued.
Queen Lennox gasped and offendedly placed a hand on her chest.
"You're a feisty one. Why don't you just leave the work to us for now, yeah?"
Queen Lennox turned around and clicked her fingers together. The sound echoed in the building.
"Everyone needs to prepare. Train if you have to- die if you have to, i don't care. Do what you have to do. Just don't hold any of your peers back," Queen Lennox warned.
"Grace Shelby. Untie this boy at once. I'd like to have a little talk with him in my office," Queen Lennox grinned.
Grace Shelby did as she was instructed. She helped Puck to his feet and took him away.
"Chat's over," Queen Lennox said before walking out of the room, following Grace Shelby and Puck.
The trio walked through a scorching hot tunnel that that slowly cooked Puck's body. They took a few twists and turns before coming to a halt outside of another double door.
"I can take it from here," Queen Lennox said.
Grace Shelby nodded before walking a few feet down the hall, before stopping to escort Puck back when they were finished.
Queen Lennox opened the doors and gestured for Puck to walk in. He nervously obliged and frantically darted his eyes around the room, trying to find a way out.
"Sit," Queen Lennox said as she walked behind a lava desk.
Puck took a seat in a chair and sat uncomfortably as he waited for the queen to speak.
Queen Lennox observed Puck. She leaned back in her chair and folded her arms.
"You're a Puckerman, aren't you?" She raised a suspicious eyebrow.
Puck looked up, confused as to how she'd know that.
"How'd you know?"
"You look like your father... I'm sure your parents would love to join you soon," she said.
Puck bit his lower lip. The act immediately gained Queen Lennox's attention and she straightened her posture.
"How do you know my father?" Puck wondered.
"That's not important, is it?" Queen Lennox said. "Are your parents still friends with the Fabray's, Hudson's, and Lopez's? Or did they have a fall out?"
"Yes, they're still friends, but how is any of this relevant?" Puck narrowed his eyebrows.
Queen Lennox remained silent as she thought of something to say. She let out a soft sigh as she nervously looked at Puck. The situation took him off guard, and his body immediately became tense.
"Is Santana doing okay?" She asked.
"What? Why?" Puck crossed his arms.
"Because.... she's my daughter," Queen Lennox admitted.
Puck practically fell out of the chair. There was no way Queen Lennox was Santana's mother! No, he'd known Santana since they were babies, and he saw resemblances of Mr. and Mrs. Lopez in her.... Yet he also saw a lot of resemblances of Queen Lennox in Santana.
"That can't be possible. Santana has a mother!" Puck rose to his feet.
"You didn't answer me. Is Santana doing okay?" She repeated herself.
"Well probably not anymore! Encase you hadn't noticed, you've kinda ruined hers and everyone else's lives!" Puck raised his voice.
"I'm not trying to ruin hers. I'm trying to ruin someone else's," Queen Lennox said.
"Who's?" Puck took a seat back in the chair.
"Her fathers- not Mr. Lopez, but her biological father. He's the reason i changed, and the reason everyone started to hate me. I'm only capturing everyone so i can get his attention."
"Tough luck, love doesn't always work out," Puck scoffed. "Now tell me, why'd you abandon Santana?"
"Parents have a huge impact on how their children turn out. You have to be incredibly careful with your words around them, even if you're in a different room. You have to be careful with your actions, whether toward them or someone else. It might not seem like it, especially at first, but your children pick up on all of that. And you don't notice it until it's too late. And you know what? You blame them in the end for how they turned out, not yourself," Queen Lennox said.
"When i found out i was pregnant with Santana, i knew i had to give her up. I was already greatly despised because i was so foul. I hurt people to make myself feel better, i use horrible language. I wasn't a good person- heck i'm still not, but i did the right thing. I gave her up so she could have a proper childhood, one where she's free to be herself without her mother screaming at her, hitting her, taunting her, or even hurting people in front of her. I may be awful, but i certainly wasn't going to let Santana turn out that way."
Puck nodded along. He had no idea Queen Lennox actually had a heart.
"I don't know if this is what you want to hear, but Santana turned out amazing. She has two loving parents who do everything and anything for her. Santana's happy with them. But she won't be for long if your destruction accidentally gets Mr. and Mrs. Lopez- or your daughter murdered," Puck informed.
Queen Lennox slowly nodded. She was well aware of the possibilities. Queen Lennox stood up and cleared her throat. The queen walked across the room, to a bookcase where she grabbed an old leather book that had a strap. Queen Lennox took a seat and placed the book on the desk, gesturing for Puck to open it.
"Yes, my fire and these earthquakes can harm Mr. and Mrs. Lopez, as well as everyone else- Santana's actually fine. She has a part of my power in her, therefor, none of this is going to affect her."
Puck flipped through each page, briefly checking what was written. Everything that was in the book, went back in time. It described everything no one ever spoke about- the truth no one knew.
"I know you want to find Santana's father, but there's definitely a different way of handling this situation. Say you did accidentally kill Santana's now biological parents, and she found out you were her first mother. She'd resent you, and want absolutely nothing to do with you," Puck said.
"Unfortunately there's no other way to go around this. This is the only way that'll get his attention."
Puck stopped on a page and looked up to Queen Lennox with big, curious eyes.
"He manipulated you? And forced you to do bad things?" Puck questioned.
Queen Lennox nodded. "It's the hard truth. There's more to that man, if you read further, you'll understand what i mean," she said.
Puck read further and gasped.
"He tricked you into becoming who you are now!"
Queen Lennox briefly smiled. "There's something else that's not in the book. A story that i felt i couldn't share with the whole world... Not the entire story, anyway," Queen Lennox said. "It wasn't me who started tormenting everyone- not at first. My partner first found himself making deals he couldn't ever follow up on, those deals then turned into fights, and those fights then turned into further criminal acts. As time went on, he began to manipulate me and asking me for things no one should ever have to ask their wife. When i'd say no, he grew furious, and forced me to do what he wanted. And because i was doing his dirty work, everyone caught on and blamed me for everything, even though i was under the influence. Time went on, and before i knew it, i'd started lashing out on my partner, and everyone in the kingdom, because of what they'd made me do, and what they'd blamed me for. Not long after i gave birth to Santana, i gave her up and was banished to the underworld. That's the short end of the story no one tells. Men get away with things, women get the blame. And as a woman, it's my duty to get my sweet revenge," Queen Lennox crookedly smiled.
Puck was left speechless. He may as well have had her as his history teacher, because he certainly learned more from her than he ever did in school.
"He framed you? He's the one who should have been banished!" Puck said.
"Yes, and no. Although he did make me do all of his dirty work, i still changed in the end and became someone i never wanted to be. It was best for the both of us to get our separate punishments."
"He was punished too?"
Queen Lennox nodded. "Not for the same reason, but he was punished in the end, and given a twelve year sentence. I have no idea where he is now, which is why this is my only way of bringing him back."
The room fell silent. Although Puck hated Queen Lennox for what she'd caused, a part of him also understood why. Puck continued to flip through the remainder of the pages while Queen Lennox observed. Once Puck was finished skimming through the pages, he shut the book and eyed Queen Lennox.
"Are you going to hurt everyone?" He asked.
Queen Lennox remained still, as if she were thinking of an answer. The queen sighed and rolled her eyes.
"I never wanted to hurt anyone, it's just speech," she said.
"If it's just speech, then why is everyone shackled to the ground? And why are you threatening us to be slaves for you? Surely you could have taken us, and treated us with respect," Puck crossed his arms.
Queen Lennox adamantly shook her head. "You have to be willing to play the role in order to get the part. I'm not actually going to hurt anyone, or enslave you- or even take over your kingdoms. As soon as my partner shows up, and we have our 'discussion' all the cracks and fire above us will disappear and everything will go back to normal."
"Except the trauma," Puck pointed out.
"Except the trauma, yes."
Queen Lennox stood up before Puck had a chance to respond.
"Perhaps it's best you get taken back now," she said as she walked over to the doors and gestured for Grace Shelby to escort Puck back.
Grace Shelby walked into the room and grabbed Puck by the forearm. He stubbornly obliged and followed Grace Shelby out of the room and down the corridor.
If he'd learnt anything today, it was that the world and the royals certainly weren't what it/they appeared to be. There was more behind what everyone knew. And there was always going to be something further behind the small truth.
