Quinn, Santana, Finn, and Puck all found a discreet field. It was surrounded by hundreds of cherry blossom trees, willow trees, rose bushes and lavender bushes. It was incredibly beautiful, and they wondered how no one ever went there.
The group stood in the center of the field, completely in awe with their surroundings. Santana suddenly went pale. There was too much nature around her.
"What's wrong?" Finn asked.
"There's greenery everywhere!" Santana whispered.
Finn looked at his friend and then out in the field, "You know how to control your powers though? You've done it before here," Finn pointed out.
Santana sighed, "Yes, but that was when everything was dead here! Everything's alive now!"
Quinn cocked a smile and placed a comforting hand on her distressed friends shoulder. Santana looked Quinn in the eye, with pleading eyes for some sort of pep talk.
"You've got this. You're not going to burn the forest down, i promise. Puck can put the fire out before it spreads anyway," Quinn said.
Santana blankly looked at Quinn. 'That was the pep talk?!' Santana thought.
Quinn laughed and nodded.
Without hesitation, Finn shot small lasers out of the tips of his fingers, burning a hole through a tree. Puck laughed and jumped up and down with excitement as he made a small water fountain with the the palms of his hands.
Quinn encouragingly nudged Santana, and the young girl ended up caving in. She used her palms and created a tornado of fire that went crazy in the field. She placed her arms by her side and watched in amazement as the fire tornado disappeared.
The ground where the tornado had been was completely ripped up and burnt to a crisp.
Quinn, though, walked over to the burnt path, knelt down and placed her hand on the patch of dirt. Immediately, the grass regenerated.
The group went crazy using their powers.
The elements these kids produced were,
Fire,
Water,
Lasers,
Telepathy and the work of Nature.
The day started to darken as night rolled around. After hours of using their powers, the kids were tired, and insanely giddy.
Their faces were flushed from running around, their cheeks hurt from laughing, and their legs were completely numb.
Quinn revived everything in the forest that was destroyed in the chaos of their fun.
"I seriously had a lot of fun today," Puck smiled.
By now, the group had begun trekking through the forest to the village.
"Same! I can't wait to do this again. Before you know it, with the amount of practice we're getting in, we're going to be better than everyone else in our school!" Santana squealed.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," Quinn calmly said.
"She's right though, we're going to be the best!" Finn smiled widely.
The group stayed silent for a brief moment, before they all burst into a fit of laughter. They knew they were going to be better, and no one was going to be able to say otherwise.
The group made it to a small village that had fairy lights lighting up the streets. Every store was small. Every building was either made out of stone or wood, sometimes both. As they walked further, they reached the streets leading to all the houses. There were four paths, in the shape of a fork. Each path led to a different little town. One was for the wealthiest in town, one was for the rich, one was for the in between, the other was for the poor, and the last one, to the far right, was for the people living in homeless shelters.
The group stared at it disappointingly. They all sighed and faced each other.
"Well, i guess this is where we split," Finn sighed.
"Looks like it. We'll see you tomorrow at school," Santana said, and gave Puck and Finn a quick hug.
"See you later, and Puck, good luck on talking to your parents," Quinn hugged them both. The group smiled to one another before taking their paths.
Quinn and Santana walked together on the wealthiest path, while Finn and Puck took the rich path.
As each duo walked further all the houses came into view. On the wealthiest side, they were all as modern as a house in the 1856's could get. They were three stories, some of them even four. They were all different shapes and sizes. Although the houses were considerably massive, the front gardens were tiny. The path leading to each house was merely twenty-seven inches with a small garden patch beside it.
On the rich side, the houses were medium sized. Typically each house there only had two floors. If you were lucky, three. Everything was roughly identical to the wealthiest side, it was only house size that was different.
On the in between side, they had one story houses, fortunately, they were given a bigger garden patch to grow crops.
On the poor side, they didn't have any garden patches, even though they were the ones who needed it most. Their houses were falling apart, some of them didn't even have a place to call a home. A lot of the people there lived in run down tents, or abandoned buildings. Those people- along with the in between side weren't allowed to join Green Meadow Academy.
"This is my stop," Santana grunted.
She and Quinn both stopped outside a gorgeous house. The walls were painted white, while all the beams remained the original dark oak colour.
"Hopefully your parents don't berate you for being out so late," Quinn apologetically smiled.
Santana waved her friend off and chuckled, "Nah, they won't. Get home safely, alright?"
Quinn nodded and gave Santana a tight hug.
"Goodbye San!" Quinn called out as she turned around and began walking down the dirt road.
"Bye Q!" Santana waved before turning around and heading into her house.
Once Quinn arrived home, she pushed open the front door and smiled as she announced her presence.
Quinn walked into the loungeroom that had a man sitting down on the couch, going through a bunch of files.
"Afternoon father," Quinn bowed.
Her dad looked up and a big smile formed on his face. He rose to his feet, placing the files down on the couch and gave his daughter a hug.
"How was school? Did you learn anything new?" He asked.
Quinn shook her head, "Nothing i didn't already know."
Her father nodded and ruffled Quinn's hair, loosening her ponytail.
"The Mrs. is in the kitchen, i assume she's waiting for your help," He dad said.
Quinn playfully rolled her eyes and walked away from her father into a separated room. A woman who looked almost identical to Quinn was cooking dinner. Quinn cleared her throat as she stepped closer to her mother.
"Oh my, Quinn! You startled me," She laughed.
"Dad sent me in to help," Quinn said.
Her mother nodded, "Yes, yes, well it is the women's job to do the house chores."
Quinn's smile faded. Her mother seemed to have noticed and gestured for Quinn to take a seat at the dining table. Her mother joined her and placed her hands on the table while she eagerly waited for her daughter to speak.
"Do you think the system is fair?" Quinn asked.
Mrs. Fabray raised an eyebrow, not understanding where her daughter was coming from.
"Like, how men get to go to work, they get to go to school, and then they get to boss around their wife or daughter. But as women, all we're able to do is go to school, then come home and tidy up the house," Quinn said. "We aren't even allowed to vote."
"The system is never going to be fair. A hundred, two hundred, even three hundred years from now, the roles could be completely reversed. Men won't be allowed to do anything except for tidy the houses, they'll still go to school to get an education, but that's about the only time they'll get away from the house. I can't say that's exactly how the future will turn out, because in all honesty, i'm not going to be alive then, but i know for a fact that the system won't ever be fair toward anyone." Quinn's mother said.
"What about all the housing situations? People have it so much worse than we do," Quinn brought up.
Quinn's mother shook her head, "Unfortunately, as women and citizens, we can't change anything. You'd have to speak to a bunch of people higher than us to even consider changing anything," She said. "Now, let's get to cooking dinner before your father gets grouchy."
Quinn's mother left the table and began grabbing plates out of one of the top cabinets.
'All we're really here for is to please the men in the world. Nothing we do matters.... Just force a smile, don't let your daughter know you're only a knife away from killing yourself... I can't be a woman anymore, not in these times- it's too damn hard.'
Quinn went pale as she heard her mothers intrusive thoughts. She was only a teenager and had gotten a fair share of what the future would be like, but perhaps it was going to be a lot more grim than she'd thought?
