POV (Y/n)

-Day 10 in the Scorch-

When my feet hit the ground my attention was back on the most important thing, the remaining gladers, the last pieces of my former life. Fry, Minho, Newt, Teresa, but where were Thomas and Brenda? When the building exploded I felt my heart lurch "Thomas!" I shout staring at the rubble of a building. Jorge grabs me "calm down, Brenda knows her way out," he tells me forcing me to rip my eyes away from the building. I swallow hard trying to force the thoughts of my brother out of my head.

"Okay, let's go," I say to the others as I follow Jorge away from the remaining chaos. I knew WICKED would still follow us and we had to keep moving. I had to trust Brenda to get my brother back to me, the night moves fast as we push on until the sound of aircraft is far away. "We should stop here and sleep. We'll move at first light which is in a few hours, so you kids rest up quick," Jorge urges and I nod being the first one to lie down to show the others we're safe.

I let my eyes fall closed and the weight of the last few hours fell on me like a crashing blow.

"What am I like in your dreams?" Gally asks as I lay against his chest and I shrug "what do you mean? You're like you are now," I tell him as he tightens his strong arms around me. "I sometimes feel like the bad guy here. I don't trust anyone," Gally says looking off into the distance and I look at him tilting his face to look at mine. "You trust me," I say with a smile that causes a smile to creep onto his features. I settle back into him and then I fall and Gally is gasping for breath in my lap. "Gally!" I shout and he looks at me with accusation "you left me to die!" he shouts.

I jolt awake as the sun begins to rise and I run a hand through my hair trying to rid myself of the nightmare. "You okay Hermana?" Jorge asks not moving from his spot, and I know he's been awake the whole time waiting for the sun to rise. "I'm fine, just a nightmare," I tell him as I look out at the rising sun. "Nightmares. They're a bigger plague than the flare," he utters "That's why I never sleep unless I have my special drink," Jorge says patting his jacket pocket and I know a flask must be inside. "You'll have to share with me sometime," I joke and he smiles "I hope you will cope better than me," he tells me and I notice the sadness in his words.

I don't have to look at his wrist to know there's a grayed-out tattoo. In this world, I'm surprised any of us have black ones. We all lose the ones we love the most, and Thomas flashes through my mind. I may not remember Thomas, but he is my brother, and he's the only family I've got left beside the gladers. "Wake up guys," I say nudging them awake with little care, and one by one they grumble awake and we set off to find my brother and the right arm. We walk through the streets of a ruined city, but it was more put together than the one we'd found ourselves in days earlier.

We walk for what feels like forever until Jorge has a lovely conversation with Marcus. Teresa and I charge into the house to find my brother and Teresa, panic runs through me at the sight of Thomas passed out on the floor. We carry him to another area of the house where Jorge had Marcus strapped down into a chair. After thirty minutes of beating Marcus bloody, he still refused to disclose any information. "(Y/n)?" Jorge asked and I knew he wanted to use my persuasion, and when Marcus's eyes fell on me and my many knives he visibly gulped and I felt like a villain.

I finally understood Gally, but I think even he'd be afraid of what I became. "(Y/n), you don't need to do this," Fry says as I pull one of my knives free from its place I turn to him "do you want to get to the right arm?" I ask and Fry looks away from me. I then see Thomas finally awake stumbling upon the scene, "listen, I don't enjoy hurting you. Okay? Where is the Right Arm, Marcus?" Jorge asks and I hold a knife to his finger, a quiet threat. "Wait this is Marcus?" Thomas asks and Marcus laughs "this kid catches on quick. Are you the brains of the operation?" he asks him sarcastically and I let the knife dig into his finger.

He groans in pain "watch your mouth, that's my brother," I say and I can feel Thomas's eyes on me and when I catch a glimpse of them they only hold concern. "I know you know where they're hiding. So you tell me, and I'll make you a deal," Jorge starts causing Marcus to laugh which enrages me but I fight the horrible urge to continue digging the knife in. "You can come with," Jorge finishes and Marcus looks up at him with swollen eyelids. "I burned that bridge a long time ago. Besides, I made my own deal. You're the one who taught me never miss an opportunity," Marcus said causing me to glare at him and look at Jorge.

"What's he talking about?" Newt asks "I'm talking about supply and demand. WICKED wants all the immunes they can get. I help provide that for them, so I lure the kids in, they get drunk, and they have a good time. Then WICKED comes in, and they separate the wheat from the chaff," Marcus explains and I glare at him after seeing the response from Brenda. "You know he might not like hurting you, but I do," I say before pressing the knife down causing him to scream.

When I pull away I rub the blood off on my pants and can see the horror on my friend's faces. I walk out of the room not wanting to deal with the accusation in their eyes. I knew it now, I'd become a monster in their eyes. Part of me didn't care though I was angry, and someone had to pay for all the lives that'd been taken.
