POV (Y/n)

-1 Year and 14 Days in the Scorch-

"Gally, I'm glad to see you made it back. Jasper told me what happened," the infected man I assume is Lawerence says. "It was a slaughter. There's nothing we can do against those guns," Gally responds and Lawerence seems unphased as he tends to his roses. "No, but they can only poke the hornet's nest so long before they get stung," he says as he pulls a bright red rose to where a nose should be. The bridge of the nose is mostly there, but the flare ate the cartilage.

"Now, who are these people? Why are they here?" he asks finally acknowledging our presence, and as if anyone is shocked my brother steps forward. "We need to get into WICKED, and Gally said you can get us through the walls," Thomas says stepping forward as if presenting himself to Lawerence. The man sizes Thomas up wondering what to say to him "Gally should know better than to make promises he can't keep," Lawerence tells Thomas as he looks between Gally and Thomas. I wonder if Gally told Lawerence about all of us from the glade.

By the way that Lawerence looks at Gally and Thomas, I'd bet he had. "Besides, that wall is only half your problem. Getting inside WICKED is impossible," Lawerence states coming closer to us supporting his weight on both a cane that clinks on the floor with every step and a creaky IV stand that's beginning to rust all over. "There might be a way now, but it doesn't work without Thomas," Gally says and I am almost shocked by Gally's words. "Is that so?" Lawrence asks eyes boring deep into Thomas's and then they flicker back to the rest of our group.

Although I only have one good eye I can see that he's looking for any kind of sign of trickery or weakness out of us. I wonder for a minute who this man use to be before the flare touched the earth or began to eat away at his body. "Do you know what I am, Thomas?" Lawerence asks him "I am a businessman," he says getting into Thomas's face and I scowl. Intimidation is not a good look, especially to someone who has nothing to lose I think, but then my thoughts fly to all the people surrounding me and the one I'm trying to save.

There is always someone to lose, I think as my eyes fix on Gally. "Which means that I don't take unnecessary risks. Why should I trust you?" Lawrence asks moving back "cause I can help you. See if you can get me through those walls... I can get you what you need," Thomas states poking at an open wound. "And what is it you think I need?" Lawerence asks trying to remain calm at the obvious manipulation. "Time. Every last drop," Thomas states simply but Lawrence scoffs as he looks to his IV that holds a blue liquid.

The half cure, the only thing that separates him from human and crank. "Is that what I need?" Lawerence asks and I look at my brother hoping he has some wise words to win this guy over. "WICKED has something we both want," Thomas says and Lawerence's eyes soften his own plan molding in his mind. "I'll tell you what. Two can go, for now, the rest stay down here with me. Just a little insurance to make sure you find your way back. We have a deal?" Lawerence asks after laying out his terms and I chew on the inside of my cheek.

Thomas grabs his hand in agreement "Gally, show him the way," he says and then we set off. "I'm coming," I tell Thomas simply and he stops staring down at me "like hell you are," he says causing everyone to stop and witness our squabble. "What's that supposed to mean Thomas?" I ask and he scoffs looking at Gally and back to me "you think I'm gonna trust you when you almost stabbed me over this shank earlier?" he asks and I laugh lightly shaking my head. "If you'd hit him again the others would have shot you on sight. So how about a thank you and we get going," I tell him an obvious lie.

"That's bullshit! You weren't doing that for me, even though I've been the one by your side, you still want to go with him!" Thomas shouts and my anger boils over at those words. I grab his shirt and push knocking him down by surprise alone. "If I remember correctly, I didn't stay with him! I lost everything because I chose you! So don't come at me like that! I watched him die! You all didn't care, but I watched him call for me as he died!" I shout in Thomas's face as someone pulls me off.

I recognize the grip as Gally's but I don't care as I shrug him off "Fuck you, Thomas," I say before walking in the opposite direction of the others refusing to look any of them in the eye.
