chapter nine:
the last supper
─────────────────

AELANYS PACED in her mother's chambers after grabbing the babes and bringing them back. She had explained everything to her mother and stepfather. After explaining everything to them, Daemon seemed more enraged than her mother. "That fucking little cunt," Daemon spat watching the boys play.

"I agree with your step father. Aemond should have not grabbed you in such way," Rhaenyra fumed shaking her head. "Come Aelanys let me examine the bruising before we have supper with the king."

Aelanys did as her mother asked and sat beside her on the chaise. "It should go away within a few days," Daemon looked over his wife's shoulder at the bruises. "I will ensure that one eye craven pays for this," Her stepfather seemed to share the same fire as his dragon did. "As much as I would like that, we must play this the right way stepfather," Aelanys sighed wincing at her mother touching the bruised areas.

"We did not know of Aegon marrying my sweet sister. I assume now that your grandsire is not well, Alicent took the opportunity to spite us further," Rhaenyra shook her head sitting back into the chaise. The Velaryon princess nodded, "I have an idea but, I fear you may not like it mother. I must first speak to grandsire though." Both of her parents nodded. "Do what you must. I trust your judgement," Rhaenyra smiled toward her now adult daughter watching her leave.

The walk to Viserys' chambers proved to be a long one. Aelanys was sure that was done by Alicent on purpose just so she'd have less interaction with Rhaenyra.

Nonetheless, the princess had made it to her grandsire's chambers not prepared for the sight before her. Tears welled in her eyes seeing the king so withered away by time. "Grandsire," Aelanys rushed to his side taking his hand in her own. "Aemma," He muttered crying silently as he peered at the young girl's blue eye. "It-it's Aelanys grandsire," Choked out the princess feeling sorrow fill her soul. "Ah! My girl, sweet girl," Viserys sat up on his bed, as best he could, embracing his favorite grandchild. "How I have missed you," Sobbed the king causing the girl to let her tears fall. "I have been away from you too long grandsire but, I will not leave your side again," Promised the princess through her tears. Viserys pulled away from their embrace to gaze upon her face. Smiling the king placed a hand on her cheek. "Aemma would be so proud of you and your mother, as am I. You shall grace the realm with your beauty as your grandmother did," He chuckled with a cough following.

Aelanys quickly poured her grandsire a cup of water which he downed. "Thank you my sweet," He smiled laying back down onto his bed. "What had caused you to grace this old man with a visit before our late supper?" He grinned showing his missing and rotten teeth. Aelanys sighed holding his hand tight, "Grandsire, there is a request I must ask." Viserys nodded seeing the ghost of his past wife on her face, "Tell me and I shall see it is done."
