Jackie’s pov
“Hello?” he says
“Um… hi…” I say hesitantly
“Jackie? Is that you?” he asks
“No… I m-mean yes” I say and Alec laughs
“What are you doing out here?” he asks
“D-didn’t want to s-stay in the basement” I answer
“Do your parents no your out here?” he questions
“No” I say
“Did you sneak out” he asks raising his eyebrows
“Yes… p-please don’t t-tell them” I beg
“I won’t” he says
“Thanks” I reply
“So how long you been out here?” he asks
“n-not very long” I answer honestly
“Cool” he says and I laugh “you know that’s the first time I’ve heard you laugh” he admits
“I-I don’t usually h-have a reason to l-laugh” I say
“Well I guess that’s true” he says with a sigh “you never answered my question” he says
“Which o-one?” I ask confused
“Do people at school hurt you?” he says
“Y-yes” I say looking at the floor
“And you don’t know why?” he says questioningly
“N-no” I admit
“Don’t worry I’ll protect you” he says
“Y-you can’t” I tell him
“Why can’t I?” he asks
“I-if you talk t-to me it will r-ruin your reputation” I explain
“I don’t care” he says and starts climbing up the tree “Reputations mean nothing to me” he says as he sits next to me
“T-thank you” I say and give him a little smile
“You’re welcome” he replies
“S-so why did you m-move here? If you don’t m-mind me asking” I say
“No I don’t mind… Well my mum and dad split up and I choose to move with my dad” he explains
“Oh I’m s-sorry” I say
“Don’t say sorry it’s not your fault, my mum cheated on my dad” he says and I get a weird feeling in my stomach
“Oh… w-well if she did that s-she doesn’t deserve y-your dad” I say and he chuckles
“I think the same thing too” he admits and I smile wider
“T-this has to be t-the longest conversation I’ve h-had in ages” I say
“Really?” he asks
“Yep” I say
“Well it’s there loss you’re actually pretty cool” he says and I blush
“T-thanks” I say
“No problem” he replies
“I-I think I should g-get back” I admit “I d-don’t want them to go check and n-notice I’m not in there” I say quietly, it’s not like I want to go back to the basement its cold, dark and pretty scary but if I’m not in there I’ll get hit and I really don’t want that!
