Chapter Fifteen

Jackie's pov

Alaya drives up to a big house and parks inside this thing... I think she called it a garage, then we get out and I sit in my wheelchair thingy. Alec pushes me into the house and we see a woman standing there looking shocked

"Oh gosh! What happened?" the woman asks

"Mum this is my friend Jackie, she was here earlier" Alaya says and the woman's eyes widen, I was here earlier? I wish I could still remember it

"But she was fine!" her mum shouts shocked

"Her dad did it to her" Alaya says and her mother gasps

"Your father did this?" she asks and I shrug

"Mum she can't remember... anything" Alaya tells her

"Anything?" her mum says and Alaya shakes her head

"Do you need a place to stay? I wouldn't want you going back to your house after what he did to you" Alaya's mum says kindly

"I would really appreciate that" I tell her and she nods

"Can you walk?" she asks

"She can, the doctor just said to keep her in here for a few days" Alec says

"Could you help her upstairs? I'll go prepare the guest bedroom" she says rushing off

"Well that was easier than I thought it would be" Alaya says then laughs

"Come on let's get you upstairs" Alec says helping me out of the wheelchair. I try to step forward and end up almost falling to the floor, I look up and realise that Alec caught me

"Thank you" I say and he smiles

"No problem" he replies, I try to walk again and this time, with the help of Alec, I actually do it! Getting up the stairs was hard so Alec ended up carrying me. He walks to the end of the hall and into a red bedroom "This is Alaya's room" he explains and I nod

"It's really nice" I tell him

"Yeah I like it too" he says, he walks over to her bed and sits me on it. "When you were here earlier you left this" he says picking up a square thing and passing it to me

"What is it?" I ask

"It's your lyric book" he answers

"My lyric book?" I question

"Yeah it's where you wrote all of your songs, you don't let anyone read it" he tells me. I open the book and flick through the pages, there all filled with songs and little drawings. I stop on a page with the title 'Change your life' I read it and it somehow seems familiar, like I know the song but I can't remember how or why I know it. Alec looks over my shoulder at the page and sees what song I'm looking at

"Would you like to listen to it?" he asks and I look up at him confused "We recorded it before you went home and all the bad stuff happened" he says

"Sure I-I would love to listen" I admit and he pulls his laptop out of his bag

"ALAYA!" he shouts and she comes running into the room

"What?" she asks

"I'm showing Jackie the video" he says and Alaya grins

"I want to watch again too!" she shouts and they both sit down beside me and put the lap top on my legs, Alec presses play and my eyes stare straight at the screen

We see Alec put a camera in the room before walking up to us with a huge grin on his face

"I've got an idea!" He exclaims

"W-what is it?" Jackie asks

"Well we have the recording off your voices done so all we need is the actual music part" he says

"I thought we'd already discussed that" Alaya says confused

"We did, that's not what I was trying to say. Well I was listening to the lyrics again and I figured out a beat! If you two can work out the melody then we can make the song!" He says excitedly

"Really?!" I shouts

"Yeah! Here I'll show you the beat he says and walks over to the drum set. He starts to play and Alaya walks over to her keyboard and starts to play, the notes she plays fit with the beat and make her smile widely. I pick up a guitar and start strumming cords, it sounds pretty good.

"She captures her reflection then she throws the mirror to the floor

Her image is distorted screaming, "Is it worth it anymore?"

No-oh-oh

(Become what you've always known)" we sound good together and by the time the song finishes I'm shocked, I cannot believe that I wrote that! The video ends and Alec grins at me

"Wow" I say and Alaya laughs

"Now you know how good you are" she says

"You're a-amazing" I say

"Thanks!" she beams, I look at my two friends and realise that even though I can't remember I still know that these are the most amazing people I've ever met

"I know I can't r-remember anything yet b-but I feel like I can trust y-you and know that you a-are my best friends" I say smiling and they laugh

"You're my best friend too" Alaya says

"And mine" Alec says and they both give me a hug

"Will you tell me more about myself?" I ask and they nod

"Your favourite colour is purple, you adore music and can play guitar" Alaya says

"You are an only child, have two best friends called Alaya and Alec, you love your lyric book and like puppies" Alec tells me and I laugh

"I-I like puppies?" I question

"Yeah! You told me you liked puppies and I told you that I don't like animal" he explains and I gasp

"How can y-you not like a-animals!" I exclaim

"That's what you said the first time!" he says exasperated and Alaya laughs at him. We talk for ages until Alaya's mum, who I now know is called Lily, tells me that my room is ready and that I should go and rest. Alec helps me into my room and gives me some tablets that the doctor said I should take, I start feeling drowsy and just as I fall to sleep I feel Alec kiss me forehead...
