Chapter Five

Jackie’s pov

We walk up to the office and Alec holds the door open for me

“T-thanks” I say

“You’re welcome” he retorts and we walk up to the desk

“Hello what can I do for you” the receptionist, miss donner, asks Alec

“I’m new” he replies

“Oh yes I’ll find you your timetable” she says then notices me standing there and gives me a glare “what are you doing here?” she says coldly

“I-I was showing Alec a-around” I says shakily, that woman really scares me, she rolls her eyes and gets back to finding Alec’s schedule

“You know if you want I can get someone else to show you round school instead of her” she says still glaring at me

“That won’t be necessary I’m fine with Jackie” he says with a smile and walks away dragging me with him

“Y-you shouldn’t h-have done that” I tell him seriously

“Done what?” he asks

“Said y-you were okay w-with me showing y-ou around” I say

“And why shouldn’t i?” he asks with raised eyebrows

“Because i-if you st-ay with me everyone w-will hate you” I explain

“I don’t really care” he says and I get that weird feeling in my stomach again what is that?

“B-but…” I try to say but he cuts me off

“No buts, butts are only for sitting on” I say and I laugh, someone in the hallway coughs and I look up to see Natasha standing in front of me

“What are you doing with that freak” she asks Alec and I put my head down

“She is not a freak” Alec says

“How are you supposed to know you don’t even know her” she says harshly

“I bet I know her more than you” he says back just as harsh, he actually sounds scary I look up at him and see him glaring at Natasha

“Who would want to know her” she says then laughs

“Me obviously” he says rolling his eyes

“People like you shouldn’t hang around with people like her!” she shouts getting mad because usually everyone listens to her and Alec is doing the exact opposite of that

“You don’t know me so you don’t know what kind of person I am” he states

“Yeah but your hot and she’s… well not” Natasha says

“I think Jackie’s hot” Alec says and I blush bright red

“WHAT!” she screams “how can you think she is hot! Are you mad!” she asks

“No but I think you are” Alec retorts and I laugh quietly

“You think that’s funny freak! Well what I’m about to do to you is going to be funny too” she says lunging at me I can feel my eyes widen but just as she’s about to hit me Alec stops her

“Don’t touch her!” he spits out

“Why are you protecting her?! You don’t even know her!” Natasha screams

“Like I said before I know her better than you!” he says coldly

“Oh whatever! He can’t protect you all the time freak so you better watch your back” she says before stomping of down the hall and into the girl’s bathroom

“Wow she really doesn’t like you” Alec says making me jump “are you okay?” he asks

“y-yes” I say “Thanks f-or sticking u-up for me” I say

“It’s okay, I can’t believe she tried to hit you” he admits

“I a-always get hit b-by her” I tell him

“And why doesn’t somebody stop her?” he asks

“Because n-nobody like m-me” I say

“Well there idoits then” he says and I laugh again

“I think that todays the first time that I’ve ever laughed in school” I admit and hear Alec gasp

“You’ve never laughed in school until now?” he asks shocked

“Y-yep I never really h-ad anything to l-laugh about” I tell him

“Well now you have” he says smiling

“Yes I h-have now” I say and roll my eyes

“Do we have any classes together?” he asks looking at the schedule

“I d-don’t know l-et me look” I say taking the schedule out of his hands, I look at it then hand it back to him

“We have f-four lessons t-together” I tell him

“Four?” he asks and I nod “so we have every lesson except one” he says and I nod again

“We just d-don’t have last period t-together” I say

“Oh I guess that’s good then” he says

“Yeah b-but that is the o-one class I have N-natasha in” I admit

“Oh crap” he says

“It’s o-okay I can handle her, I have b-been for three years n-ow” I say and he nods slowly

“C-come on w-we need to g-et to registration” I tell him and we start to walk down the hall let’s hope she ditches class today because if she doesn’t I’m dead…
