Chapter Six

Jackie’s pov

We walk into registration and I walk to my seat in the back, Alec walks up to the teacher and gets his slip thingy signed

“So Alec why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself” Mr Johnson says

“Not much to tell really” Alec says

“Oh come on there’s got to be something you can tell us” he says

“Um…I’m 16, just moved from New York and… I’m living in Jackie’s house” he says and I hear a gasp

“Oh god I feel so sorry for you” Leah, Natasha’s best friend, says

“Why’s that?” Alec asks

“You have to live with that” she says pointing at me, everybody in class laughs even Mr Johnson!

“That has a name” he says sharply and Leah rolls her eyes

“Oh whatever I was only telling you how sorry I felt” she says

“Well don’t” he says and walks over to me “do you mind if I sit here?” he asks and I shake my head

“N-no” I say and he sits down. That’s the second time today he’s stood up for me, I feel kind of weird… I don’t know what it is I’ve never had this kind of feeling before…

“So… What lesson have we got first?” he asks casually

“Science” I tell him and he groans “I-I’m guessing th-that you don’t l-like science” I say looking at him

“Nope” he says smiling

“W-why not?” I question

“I don’t really know I just really don’t like science” he says honestly

“Okay t-then” I say

“Do you always sit in the back of the class?” he asks

“Yeah” I admit

“Is it because no one else does?” he questions

“Yep” I say and look down at my desk

“Are you scared of them?” he asks quietly

“Yes” I say simply

“Don’t be” is all he says before turning to listen to what Mr Johnson is talking about, what does he mean don’t be? I know he kinda saved me earlier but like Natasha said he can’t protect me all the time. When the bell rings I wait for everybody except Alec to walk out and then stand up

“Come o-on time for sc-science” I say smiling

“Great” he says sarcastically which makes me laugh, I walk out of the room with Alec next to me and out into the hall. Natasha, Leah, Chloe and Jade are stood at the bottom of the hall staring at us

“Crap” I whisper

“Seriously what is there problem?” Alec whispers to me

“I-I don’t know they just d-don’t like me” I answer and he mutters something about stupid girls, I have to hold back my giggle as were to close to them and I don’t want them to hear it.

“You’re still with that?” Natasha says

“I already told your friend that has a name and yep I’m still with her” he says

“Wait did you just stick up for her?” Chloe asks stupidly

“Yes” he answers

“Are you okay? Did she drug you or something?” Jade asks looking worried do they seriously think I’d do that?! I mean come on! They don’t even know me! Why do they think I’d do something like that?
