An apology is all we needed..

Chapter six

I woke up and got out of bed. I soon realized it was October 28th, my birthday. It isn't that big of a deal but light always has a surprise for me. I smiled and got out of bed. I went to the kitchen to find a Light cooking breakfast.

"I thought you said you didn't know how to cook." I chuckled,"I don't but since it's your birthday and you usually do most of the things around here, I decided to do them for you!" He said with a smile across his face.

I grabbed my phone to see if I had any messages from other friends but then."oh my god! Luca help!" He cried out. I shot my head up to see the pan on fire,I stood up and grabbed a rag to soak it in water to put the fire out, and while I was doing that Light was apologizing in the background.

"Next time let me do the cooking,it doesn't matter if it's my birthday or not.just leave the cooking for me." I let out a small laugh,"I apologize...I officially ruined your birthday. Light said sarcastically. Then also let out a laugh "oh! I almost forgot ,uhm..Levi got this as a gift for your birthday." He added "oh?" I said.It was a medium sized box. A note came with it and I decided to read it first .

The note:

Dear Luca.

I have been a bad brother a horrible one even I hurt you and made fun of you
But I will keep on telling you I changed. I don't ever want to go back to my old ways.

I never burnt your stuffed animal. I know it was very important for you since it was the last gift our father gave you before he passed.

I may have been horrible to you but our fathers gift to you is special. I know you loved him dearly .

I was confused so much time has passed that I don't remember a thing about a plushie. I grabbed the gift and opened it. As I opened it, Light grabbed the note to read it. When I fully opened the box I saw...A stuffed bear.when I was little and throughout the years I used to love it dearly because it was handmade. It had a small pin saying "I love you" and another note.

The note:

Dear luca

I gave this stuffed animal to you as a gift so you could remeber me. When I die your mother will say I died from a car crash.

But I died intentionally.. I apologize that you have to learn this way, I couldn't do it, I was not well mentally..

Your brother will grow angry and take it out on you but please know it isn't your fualt. He always wanted me to notice him but I was too busy for him. It is my fault.

If he does something horrible you will know why. Please forgive him if he does, I know he would never do something that bad to hurt you. After all, you are his younger sibling.

I covered my mouth. It was a suicide note..My own father killed himself.I started to cry, Light took the note out of my hand and read it. "Oh, Luca...I am so sorry, I really am." Light said while trying to comfort me by hugging me.

I was horrified, he committed suicide.. I wiped my tears off my face and slowly grabbed the plush. I smiled, did Levi really change? I hugged Light back and quietly smiled as I thought that Levi maybe could've changed.
