Back home from Paris, she had a crisis at one of the homes she was rehabbing. The new floors she ordered were not going to be delivered in time for the installers already schedule. She would have to push out the date a week.

Which meant lost money.

She felt like she was on a sinking ship. What seemed so easy for her at the start was now becoming such a nightmare. She needed more money to bail her out of everything.

And then there was JeVonte. She realized she wanted a chance with him even after he lied to her. But what did she want? Date him or just have sex with him? Add him to her roster of boy toys, or make a special place for him.

That was the thought of the day.

She closed her eyes and lay back in her big fluffy bed surrounded by pillows. Life was all about living and making mistakes. Sometimes mistakes hurt....but she could get over the pain. But never living would be something different. All of her rules were in place to protect her heart from being broken. Maybe it was time to break some of those rules.

She scheduled a training appointment at GLG and hoped for the best. She wore short, black boy shorts and a black sports bra that zipped in the front and nothing else. She lowered the zipper just enough to show cleavage. She pulled back her hair in a ponytail, dotted her face and blended the foundation, and added a bit of bronzer, a bit of eyeshadow, and a touch of mascara. She was going for a natural look as if she was not wearing anything.

Then she waited near the fitness center and sat in one of the chairs.

JeVonte walked in, saw her, and stopped walking. She could see the muscles in his jaw flex as he clenched his teeth. It was kind of hot.

"Hey, JeVonte."

He walked past her and she jumped up from the chair to follow him.

"JeVonte, wait."

He did not even look at her but stopped walking. "I have a new client to meet with."

"Hi, it's me. New client. I didn't want to book under my name or I knew you wouldn't come."

He turned to her, anger in his eyes. "Don't fucking play Yancy, this is my job. It may not mean much to you, but I like it."

"I know! And you're the best, and I need to be trained."

He stepped to her, and gave her a once over, eyeing her outfit. "Is this a joke to you? Am I a joke to you?"

"No! JeVonte, just listen...I'm sorry. I shouldn't have...left. I should have stayed and talked with you and get to know you more. You shouldn't have lied."

"This is bullshit." He walked out of the fitness room and down the hall and she followed him. Others walking about, getting their workout in, did not blink an eye at them.

"I paid for an hour session with you, and I'm going to get it."

"So now I'm bought and paid for, great!"

She grabbed his arm. "Please JeVonte. I just want to talk. Please. Can we just talk somewhere, alone? Or you can just listen to me, you don't have to say anything."

JeVonte stopped, rubbed a hand over his waves of hair, ruffling it a bit, then clenched his jaw again.

"Fine! Five minutes, then leave."

She followed him out the back door of the gym. She had not been in the back before. She was guessing it was for deliveries or something because there was a loading dock. Also, there were a few picnic tables out there. She assumed employees took breaks out here.

JeVonte stood there, arms across his chest. Her eyes went to the tats on his arms and how much this man was sexy. She was too focused on viewing his body, she only stood there and said nothing.

"So now you're quiet?"

"JeVonte..."

"And I thought you were different! You're not, you're worse."

She felt so much pain in his voice and it hurt. But she did not think she was the only one wrong in this. "Why didn't you just tell me the truth? You lied to me, I have the right to be upset."

He nodded, "Yeah, yeah, you're right. Make me the bad guy."

She walked up to him. "I was wrong. I shouldn't have left, judged you...ended things before they got started. Hey, I'm fucked up. I did a fucked up thing."

He glared at her, but she felt his eyes soften. They weren't so stone-cold.

She moved a bit closer to him, real close, but he stepped back from her.

"I've been doing a lot of thinking. I want another chance...with you. I don't care about anything else, about your money or where you live. I like you JeVonte, the person I was getting to know."

"No."

"Come on." She moved closer to him. He didn't move this time. She knew she was getting to him. "Tell me you hate me then I will leave."

"No."

"No what?" She leaned in and planted a kiss on his lips. So soft, she remembered him kissing her in all the places.

He stood there, unmoving, arms still across his chest.

"Jevonte, give me another chance." She kissed him again, and when he didn't move, she put her arms around his neck. "I missed you, tell me you missed me."

"I'm not that easy Yancy."

"Tell me what you want me to do, I'll do it."

He glared into her eyes, said nothing, then pulled her in for a long, passionate kiss. They stood there, kissing, enjoying each other like their first kiss. Then he pushed her away.

"You're playing with my feelings for you."

"I'm not!"

"You don't want what I want, so I already know how this will end."

"You don't know what I want. Heck, I don't, but I'm willing to try. With you."

He kissed her again. "You're a fucking headcase, you know that." He kissed her again. "And so am I for fucking with you again."

"We're two fucked up people. Emotionally. We've been hurt. But maybe we won't hurt each other. Just maybe."

He gave her a few more kisses. "I'm at work. And we should not be out here making out like high schoolers."

"That's hot!"

"No for real." He pushed her away. "I can't be seen making out with members. We can't be here like this."

"So are you saying...we can do this elsewhere? Like, meet up later?"

He pulled her back to him and kissed her. "I'm a crazy fool because, for some reason, I can't get you out of my head. Let's just take things day by day and see."

She nodded. "Thank you for giving me a chance."

He glanced down at his watch and grinned. "You still have time for that training session. You game?"

"Uh...sure."

He chuckled. "Yeah, be worried. Be scared! I am not going to take it easy on you." He opened the door for them to go back in. "And you're no beginner, and I am not going to treat you like one."

A/N: Breaking the rules and going back to JeVonte! This is progress.
