She purposely stayed away from JeVonte a few days after their rock climbing date. It almost felt like this would be the end of them when he moved back to the city so far away from her. They would not see each other every day, and when they did, she would feel guilty.
To top it off, she just found out she had to ditch the Florissant house at an extreme loss. There was no way it would be done in time to pull a profit, so either way, she was losing money. She would rather not throw more money at something and waste her time.
She was moving forward with other plans, investing in a business. Teaching others how to start their own business.
She registered herself in a few courses so that she would be qualified to help others. Then she stalked the internet for protecting investment businesses.
JeVonte let her be when she told him work was taking over her life. They talked several times a day and at night he would Facetime her.
"You miss me?" he said to her.
"Hmmm, a little, I guess," she joked with him.
"Have you been working out?"
"Uh..." She had not unless she counted her long walks thinking and contemplating. She had not been to the gym doing the hard workouts JeVonte had for her.
"Babe."
"What? I'm trying to get a handle on my life right now J, give me some grace." Then she had an idea. "Want to go for a walk with me? I have been doing that. It's the easiest exercise to do."
"It's kind of late."
It was about eight o'clock at night, the sun would set soon. It was already getting dark outside. It was still summer so the days were long.
"Please. Just so I can clear my head and share my thoughts with you."
"Okay, where?"
"Remember that lake I took you to on our first date?"
"That was not a date."
"It was! Come on J, meet me there. I'll be waiting for you. Bye."
She changed into some joggers and a cute fitted tee, put on socks and her tennis shoes. She did not have to drive to the location since it was less than a mile from her. Equipped with her phone and a container of water, she walked to the parking lot to wait for him.
She sat on a nearby bench and waited, reviewing work documents on her phone.
As soon as he pulled up, she stood and walked over to his car.
"Hey, babe." He pulled her in his arms and kissed her. "How'd you get here, did you park somewhere else?"
"I just walked, come on." She took his hand. "How was work?"
"Work," he simply said.
"But you love it, don't sound so defeated."
"I do. I love it, love the gym, the people sometimes get on my nerves."
"Why? Because they are rich or for some other reason? The women still harassing you?"
"I mean, they flirt but I can handle that. For the most part, I can handle all types, just a few assholes that think they know best. Why hire a trainer if you know what to do already, right? It's like I asked them to hire me when it's the other way around."
"Aww, sweetie. You're the best. My body is proof you can whip anything in shape."
In three months, she had six-pack abs, toned arms, shapely thighs, and a rounder butt. She lost absolutely no weight. She still was the same number, but she went down a size in clothes. She loved her new body, but it was like JeVonte said, it was what you ate more so than exercise.
