Sirius watched as a floating stack of books soared over his head, hand popping up to push at the magical stack before he flopped back onto the sofa he sat on. Peter sat on the same couch as Sirius, the taller's legs now slung over his lap. Across from them, Lily sat upside down on the couch with James, her legs kicked over the back and her head dangling off the edge. James was the only one sitting normally, squished against the armrest so he wouldn't run into Lily and Remus was in an armchair, his legs slung over one armrest.
They were all bored as shit.
It was Halloween night so a majority of the other students were indulging in overly sweetened food in the Great Hall. The Marauders, however, decided to bail early and retire to the almost empty library where they could maybe talk. But not much talking was happening, if Sirius was being entirely honest.
Sirius watched as Remus blinked tiredly, outlined in a golden halo by the fire that burned behind him. His feet kicked idly from where they hung over the armrest and he looked so sleepy and content. It was a good look on him.
"Okay," Lily suddenly started, breaking the silence and causing everyone to look over at her. "Craziest scar stories, go!"
Sirius frowned as he thought for a moment. He had dozens of stupid, tiny scars; mostly from incidents, he'd rather not talk about with both Peter and Lily present and prone to overreaction. However, one particularly dumb and harmless scar popped into mind.
"I burned the roof of my mouth drinking tea," Sirius drolled when he was sure no one else was about to speak up. "-it's now permanently discoloured."
Lily raised her light eyebrows, either in surprise or at the sheer stupidity of it. James only snorted, he had been there after all. Peter rolled his eyes and grunted a laugh. Remus didn't react. Sirius looked away from him.
James finally took a deep breath and stretched. "I was pouring soup out of the pot and spilt it over my hands. I got a super bad burn on my left hand." He raised his arm, showing off the very pale discolouration at the back of his hand.
Peter shifted on the couch and shrugged his shoulders. "I dropped a fire poker on my foot and burned myself..."
Lily only hummed before flopping her arms over her head. "I have graphite stuck in my hand from primary school. Got stabbed with a pencil."
The other two nodded before looking over to Remus; he had been quiet the entire time.
Scars were a bit of a sensitive topic with Remus, what with him pretty much being covered in them. His arms and most of the rest of his body was mapped with lacerations ranging from thin and pink to wide and gnarled white. Even his face sported a few; three jagged gashes that were sliced over the entirety of his face; thin but lightly discoloured a soft pink and very visible.
Those who were smart never mentioned the scars and those who didn't know better received one of the scariest sneers Remus could conjure.
Eventually, Remus sighed and let his neck go limp, head rolling back on his shoulders. "I'm quite literally a fucking werewolf. Take a guess."
The other three laughed and Remus joined in not long after.
