Part 7- Home away from home

I stretched my arms over my head embracing the warm sunshine on my smooth skin. It was lovely.

"Aah" I sighed in relief and satisfaction as I exited the hospital doors.

I closed my eyes taking in the beaming rays of light from the sun, it's really refreshing. It has been at least two days being in the hospital and it was nice to be outside again.

At of all the clothes James brought, I was able to choose a white plain top and black causal trousers with white sneakers, it was an argument on why I chose them though but they were the only comfortable clothes I found.

"You seem very happy" James walked out holding the bags of clothes I had earlier rejected.

"Yh why wouldn't I be" I gave him a lob sided smile. "I'm finally out of there" I sighed.

He gave me his stern smile "Glad you're feeling better now"

"Thanks to you for helping me" I replied brushing my hair behind my ear.

He smiled back at me "my pleasure"

We started walking in the direction of the parking lot
"So where should I drop you?"

"Uh?" I stood frozen in a spot while James kept walking. After a few inches he turned back to look at me.

"What?"

"No, no, no!" I scowled

"No what?" He asked confused "You don't have a place to stay?"

"No! I mean– em, you can't drop me off!" I exclaimed.

He raised his eyebrows "Why not?"

"Cause everyone would thi-" my sentence was cut short by my ringtone. I signaled James to give me a minute.

The caller ID was Alice, my best friend. We spoke earlier, while I was still in the hospital and when I told her where I was she almost flipped.

So we agreed to meet up at one of the cafe near our hostel by 10am. Making her not to worry, I picked up the phone.

"Morning Alice" I greeted.

She giggled over the phone "morning too baby" she greeted. "You're discharged today right?"

"Yeah, I am"

"You heading back now?"

"Yh-" I looked at James waiting for me at his car, his was resting by the side if the car, and crossed his arms on his chest "could you come pick me up?" I whispered making sure he didn't hear me.

"Sorry honey, I can't. I've got class now, Mr Williston said I can't be skipping classes anymore"

"Oh right" I was a little disappointed both I also remembered that in my previous life, Alice had problems with her studies and nearly dropped out. "Yh you should stay, I'll meet you later"

"I'm sorry, Soph" she sighed "believe me, I tried convincing Mr Williston, but the man wouldn't budge"

I chuckled over the phone"you know he wants you to focus in school and to study"

"Yh I know about that" she scoffed. "But when it comes to you, things are different"

I stayed silent, those really stuck to me. Alice is a one of a kind person, rare to find, and I'm so lucky I get to have her as my bestie.

I remember, in my previous life Alice and I were best friends and we were inseparable during my school years until suddenly she disappeared because her dad fell Ill, and left no trace behind. I can't let it happen again.
