James POV

We had already left the campus, the ride was silent but I didn't break it. To much had happened tonight.

I focused on the road, as we silently drove back home. Meanwhile Sophie stared outside and looked like she was in her own world of thoughts.

I sighed inwardly and mentally cursed the situation she had been through. It was hurting so much seeing her like this, it made me belittle myself.

I had everything, everything to protect her. Yet I couldn't

I glanced over at Sophie as her saw rubbing her wrist but still staring outside; her wrist looked sore and was red. As though she felt my gaze she turned to look at me, her eyes looking stressed but they were still tears that lingered in her eyes that hadn't fallen.

I looked at her for while before returning back to the road, "does your wrist hurt?" She didn't respond and kept on staring at me. And I felt she had questions that needed answers.

"Why?" She asked her voice was raspy and low as a whisper but I was close enough to hear.

I turned to her a bit then faced back "why what?" I asked her back.

"Why where you worried about me?"

I flinched when she suddenly asked me that question. To her it might have been confusing but to me I cared about her, I felt the world that I had newly founded and was trying to understand, crumble. It was like losing something special before even given the chance to receive it.

I felt lost.

I didn't reply to her and I knew she was still waiting for my reply.
"You didn't answer me"

I still kept my silence and heard her sigh disappointed and frustrated then turned away from me to look outside. I couldn't tell her the real truth of how I felt, I was worried if me telling her would just be a burden to her after all there was already to much to handle right now.

"I was worried if I hadn't made it on time" I finally spoke making her to turn to me but my mind was focused on the road.

"How did you know where I was?" She asked again her voice weak and tired.

"You should rest, you sound tired. You had too much today"

She sighed and turned back out the window, she muttered something under her breathe and continued to stare outside. There was silence between us until we got back.

I pulled over after I had parked the car. I noticed she hasn't moved and her head was still resting on the window, I sighed at the sight.

She must be really exhausted. I purposely stayed back and rolled down my window for ventilation as she rested. I removed my jacket and folded it up to make a small pillow and gently raised her head to put it underneath. She nuzzled in and sighed calmly, I smiled as I saw her snuggle in like a baby.

So adorable

I sighed and slouched sat on the car seat. Lots of things race to my mind but tried to block them all out, and enjoy the moment I was in.

Seeing Sophie sleep

It was a weird excuse but I love seeing her sleep soundly. It's like all her worries being washed away and nothing else mattered, and nothing bothered her, that she was finally happy.

Plus she looked cute.

This woman truly had changed me. I never thought I ever care for someone the way I cared for her, or worry for someone to this extent. At first I tried to convince myself that she was just a prime figure in the investigation, but things took a hard turn and in a short period of time I was beginning to fall for her

Hard

I didn't want to force her, or her feelings. But one thing I knew was I an inpatient man and I couldn't always wait to get what I wanted.

And I wanted her. No

I needed her

I finally heard as my heart and mind spoke. I needed her. The words kept on replaying in my head

I needed her
I needed her
I needed her.

But why?

I didn't know what exactly was that I needed from her, but yet again i couldn't deny the fact that I did. Things were slowly getting clearer as I tried to understand it all. I rubbed my temples then breathed as the word came of me ' Sophie '.

That was all I could say, her name. The name of woman that changed my life.

It was silent untill a vibration from the back of my pocket rang. The ID tagged as ' Owen '
I picked up the call and made sure I didn't disturb Sophie.

"Is everything taken care of?" I asked

"Yes sir. We discreetly dropped him off at the hospital, as he's injuries we-"

"I don't care about his well being" I interrupted "that was just the tip of the iceberg for him"

"Sorry sir." He apologized

"Whatever. Anyways, keep an eye on his recovery and follow him from a distance. We can't do anything yet; because of his appearance today he might likely go to whoever he's partnering with and seek for help to take Sophie. So we'll used him to get to the others"

"Yes sir"

"He may also use Sophie friend against her, so make sure she's safe as well."

"Yes sir"

"If anything comes up tell me. Night"

"Night sir" and I hung up.

It had being 15mins since we got back, so I decided it's time to go inside. I got down from the car and went over to Sophie's door, I opened it gently knowing her head might fall if I rush. I held her head steady as the door was wide open, I tried nudging a little for her to wake up but she mumbled something and turned to the other side.

I chuckled at her and gently placed my hand underneath her and carried her in my arms. She snuggled into my chest and she sighed calmly telling me she was comfortable.

"Young miss? Oh thank goodness she's back. I was so worried about her" aunt Mary came out of the kitchen concerned

"Is she alright? Her face looked stained with tears, why did she cry? Did you two fight? Did you make her cry?!" She bombarded me with questions about Sophie and in a way I was jealous and happy at same time, aunt Mary loves her.

"Aunt Ma-

"Oh dear, her wrist looks red and swollen. What happened to it. I'll go get the first aid kit" she rushed off to get it. While I went to the living room and carefully put her down, with pillows for her head. Just as soon as aunt Mary arrived.

"Aunt M-"

Before I continued she was already at Sophie's side and was attending to her, muttering some words to her.

Talk about being ignored.

"Oh dear child. What made you go through this?" She asked caressing her forehead, as she had already finished with the band-aid. She turned to me then stood up straight "young master, may I know what happened between you two for her to be like this?" She asked me concerned and worried.

She took Sophie as her own child and cared for her like her own daughter, I couldn't make her worry more.

"It's ok aunt, calm down. I promise didn't do such to her. Something just happened in her school..." I trailed off as I remembered what happened
"I'm just glad I got there in time before any other thing happened to her" I sighed. She looked hurt and worried the more, she then turned back to look at sleeping Sophie.

"Poor child. Who would do something to her like that?" She asked anger obvious in her tone.
"Don't worry aunt, I'll make sure they regret it" my teeth gritted and my jaw tighten as I stared to look at Sophie. Then excused myself to good wash up
