Chapter 22

Sharanya could hear Shashank desperately trying to apologise. It was late at night when Riva decided to show up, ready to talk. Shashank advised Sharanya to stay in her room and she agreed.

When Shashank saw Riva who was looking devastated, his heart broke into pieces. Her eyes were red and swollen because of crying, her hair were messy.

"Riva I don't have any excuses. I am not defending myself.. I am surrendering hundred percent.. I wish you'd forgive me.." Shashank pleaded.

"Why did you do this Shashank?" Riva yelled "Maine literally apni jindagi di tumhe aur tumne aise kiya"

Shashank stayed silent.

"Agar pyar nahi karti tumse toh abhi isi waqt maar daalti" Riva shouted "Maar deti main tumhe aur Sharanya dono ko"

Rachit, Nidhi and Ninad were there too. They were silently standing in a corner. They weren't expecting that Riva would yell at him.

"Kya karna hai ab tumhe?" Riva wiped away her tears and asked "Sharanya ke sath rehna hai? Do you love her?"

"I don't love her" Shashank said very confidently "It's difficult.. I don't know how to tell you"

Sharanya heard this and felt knot in her stomach. How sure he was that he didn't love her!

"Toh samjhao.. Batao mujhe" Riva said "Mujhe toh chhod diya tumne"

"Maine tumhe nahi chhoda hai, aisa ho hi nahi sakta" Shashank said.

"Toh Sharanya ke sath timepass kar rahe ho?" Rachit decided to intervene.

"Mujhe samajh nahi aa raha hai tum logoko kaise batau main.." Shashank was feeling helpless "What I have with Sharanya is different.. It's on a different path altogether"

"Shut up Shashank" Ninad said "For God's sake.. You can never make us understand what you and Sharanya did there in that weird group"

"Koi baba type insan ke sath fas gaye ho kya tum log? Is he like religious preacher or something?" Nidhi asked.

"He is not a religious preacher.." Shashank said "His name is Naveen"

Sharanya was getting restless. She knew she wouldn't be able to hear anything negative about Naveen or the group. But she was trying to be patient.

Sharanya sat down on bed. She looked at the calendar hanging on the wall. Suddenly something sparked in her mind.. A thought which had made its way in her mind this morning.

Sharanya's periods were late.. Now she was sure that she had missed them!

It all started when she felt tired and sleepy. But the drugs and joy of meetings would not let her notice anything. For a week straight she felt the morning sickness but ignored it.

Thought that she might be pregnant didn't cross her mind until this morning when she puked and felt her legs going weak!

Chill ran down on her spine as she thought about it. Was she pregnant? May be she was!

Riva's sad crying phase successfully turned into angry and yelling phase. She was angry and was throwing things around. She was shouting and screaming at Shashank for betraying her. Shashank was silently listening and was getting hit by things thrown by her without moving.

"How dare you cheat me" Riva screamed "Somvar ke vrat kiye tumhare liye, tumhe sab kuch diya maine aur tum itne harami kaise ho sakte ho? Pehle se hi aise the tum? Maine galati ki tumhe samjhne me?"

Shashank just stood there with his gaze lowered.

"Aur Sharanya? Usko kaha chhupa ke rakha hai? Bahar bulao usko bhi" Riva demanded.
