THIRD'S POV

Jimin hit the ground harder than intended and caused a slight tremble of the earth as he shifted and made for the cottage's back door.

Clan was extremely hospitable to the dragons from the mountain.

This was a cottage that Jimin had often used since moving to the area from the islands.

Although this was the first time he ever brought a stranger home.

He'd never brought anyone back to the cottage before, usually opting for the back room of bigo or their place but Jungkook was a different story.

Jungkook was his mate and that made him special in every way.

He opened the back door and entered eager and impatient to join his mate again and hold him tightly for the remainder of the night.

Being away had been difficult but Joon understood and the mission was reverted to Yoongi.

He would thank Yoongi later when he introduced him to his mate.

It was then at that moment that he realized he didn't know Jungkook's last name.

As soon as they woke in the morning, he would get the details while they ate and planned their future.

The picture he held in his mind was serene and so satisfying but his dragon was becoming agitated.

With each step he took taking him closer to the bedroom, he felt the stirring of his beast.

He was unsettled and on edge and it didn't make sense until he opened the bedroom door and saw the empty bed.

Jimin stood there, not comprehending the scene for a few minutes.

Then he searched the house, certain that Jungkook had to be there.

He shouldn't have awakened with the dragon touch he'd given him that induced deep untroubled sleep.

How was it that he was not there?

He called to him over and over and stepped outside and called but received no answer.

His mind was having difficulty with what his eyes were seeing.

How did he wake?

Where did he go?

Then it sunk in like a slap in the face, his mate was gone.

Jimin tore through the house to the front door following the slight scent that still remained trying to track his mate but their bond was not fully formed and their connection was weak.

"What's wrong, Jimin?" He heard Cal the Chief of Clan speak to him and felt him walk up to stand beside him.

His agitation and distress must have woken the leader.

Jimin turned to look at him but found his words failed him.

"Jimin, what is it?" He reached out and took him by the upper arm, garnering his attention and helping him to focus.

As a Dragon Knight, he should be in control and handle himself with strength and dignity but he could barely get the words to form and leave his mouth.

He didn't want them to be true.

He didn't want to face his failure.

"My mate is missing." He struggled with the statement and instantly saw the shock and concern envelope Cal's face.

He guided Jimin to the back deck of the Lodge and sat him in one of the chairs, Cal sat next to him.

"Tell me what happened." He said and Jimin relayed the entire evening from going to bigo to get laid and ending up finding his mate and bringing him home, then being called away to the mountain.
