THIRD'S POV
Jungkook met with the client early and got everything arranged to start work the following day.
It was fifty feet of brick fencing and could be completed by the end of the week if the weather held.
Joss would be there Monday and his presence would help him to keep his mind off Jimin.
Yes, that man had invaded his heart and his mind and would not leave.
During the drive to S-city, his mind never stopped repeating every word and every amazing sensation and Jungkook was about to lose his mind.
He wanted to go back and find Jimin and ask if maybe they could spend more time together but the rational part of his brain told him to cut it out and focus on work.
Thankfully his rational mind won out and he didn't embarrass himself by begging for attention.
The very thought made him cringe but leaving and shutting Jimin out was one difficult maneuver.
Joss would help him get his head on straight and sort out this ridiculous infatuation.
He headed to the diner for lunch, half hoping that some of his father's men might be there.
Taking this job from Jeon Designs was a boon to his ego and he wasn't averse to rubbing it in a little.
The City Diner had good food at a good price and he'd frequented the place often after it opened a few years ago.
Some of the other men who worked for his father followed and soon it was where most of the men went for lunch.
Jungkook took a seat by the window so he could watch the room, It wasn't long before Jamie walked in and noticed him.
"Hey Jungkook, how's it going?" He asked. His words were clipped and his tone tight, betraying his discomfort and Jungkook found that gratifying for some reason.
Jamie had stayed and kissed up to the new boss and from what Jungkook heard was looking at a promotion to foreman.
"Good and you?" Jungkook faked a smile.
"Good." Jamie responded too quickly.
"You here doing that fence job on Barrow Street?"
"Not your concern."
Jungkook was not in the mood to discuss jobs with one of his father's lackeys.
That response set Jamie back a bit and he excused himself awkwardly and headed to the counter.
Jungkook ordered and concentrated on eating his lunch, not feeling as eager to interact with any more of his father's people.
He didn't know most of them since there had been a major turnover after he and Joss left and Jih took over.
It was better he let the past go and focus on his own business and future.
The minute his future came to mind, Jimin came with it.
Damn that man for butting in on every thought.
Jungkook finished his lunch and left the diner.
Unfortunately, his father was pulling into the lot just as he was getting into his truck.
Jamie must have called him.
"Jungkook." He yelled and jumped from his car and hurried over to where he was parked.
"Fuck." Jungkook muttered to himself when he heard his father's voice and saw him coming towards him.
Jeon Jiwoo hadn't spoken to him in months and it was just how Jungkook liked it.
No contact was how he'd prefer to keep it.
Jiwoo came up to his window but stayed a few feet back.
"How's the loser?" Jiwoo Jeered.
Jungkook just rolled his eyes.
"How's the crazy?" Jiwoo's face got red and his eyes flared with rage.
"Is Joss working for you?" He shouted.
It wasn't what he expected but it was better than any personal questions.
"Joss is retired." Jungkook shot back.
"Stay in your own territory or I'll be forced to ruin you." Jiwoo spat but his threats didn't hold the power they used to.
Jungkook had his own life, his own business and a freedom that had been denied him.
Jiwoo wasn't a factor or consideration any longer.
Jungkook rolled his eyes as Jiwoo continued to rail on and then rolled up the window and drove away, leaving him standing there.
Jungkook went back to his motel room and spent the rest of the day answering emails and prepping his supplies and equipment for the job.
The interaction with Jamie and his father fought with the memory of Jimin for dominance in his mind.
He got up and stared out the window for a few minutes trying to clear his mind when a sudden, sharp pain radiated through his middle.
He bent over and clutched his stomach at the pain and immediately wondered if it had been brought on by something he'd had at the diner.
The pain gradually eased and nausea took over as he ran to the bathroom and lost his lunch.
He was soon on his knees, holding the sides of the toilet bowl and continued to sway with the dizzying nausea.
A cold sweat broke out, bringing with it a tremble that wracked his body.
He grabbed a washcloth and soaked it with cool water before returning to the main room and stretching out on the bed.
He placed the cool cloth on his forehead and closed his eyes.
Within a few minutes, Jungkook was back on his feet and raced to the bathroom.
He didn't have time to be sick, he had a job to start and finish and a business to get fully off the ground.
Sickness had no place in his life right now.
