THIRD'S POV

Jimin did what he had to do and saving his mate was paramount to all other actions.

He had shocked him with the partial shift but Jungkook didn't resist and didn't question, although the confusion hung heavy in the air between them.

He asked for trust and Jungkook gave it to him.

Getting him out of the house without injury required shifting partly since his wings would shield his mate from the heat and destructive forces of the flames.

The fire didn't bother him.

As a dragon, fire was as much a part of him as his blood and his breath.

The flames were so large and the place had gone up so fast that Jimin first assumed there was more than one arsonist but once they got outside, he saw that the cause was mechanical. One man with a flame thrower, so evil.

It would be impossible not to know that someone was inside.

His intention was either he didn't care or he planned on killing Jungkook.

The answer to his question was immediate when the man made a second attempt on the life of his mate, It was over for him in less than a second.

Dragon fire consumes instantly and completely.

Jimin set Jungkook back on his feet and opened his wings but still kept them as a shield on either side as a buffer against the heat and the smoke.

"Where did he go." Jungkook was breathless and his word were accompanied by several coughs.

Jungkook did not move away from Jimin but stayed within the shelter of his wings.

"He left." It wasn't a lie since he had reduced the man to a fine pulverized ash that left on the winds.

The man was probably miles away by now in several different directions, Jungkook just stood looking at the destruction.

The neighbors were going to be awake soon and Jimin had to secure his mate's safety so with out giving it too much thought, he let his dragon take over.

He quickly ushered Jungkook to the back of the property, where they were sheltered from view and he shifted completely within the darkness of the trees.

He clutched Jungkook close with his talons and soared to the skies.

Jimin wished he could have gone about this more gently and taken the time Jungkook would need to process such information but circumstances called for action.

He could feel Jungkook holding him with a grip that was like steel and could feel his heart pounding in both fear and confusion.

It pained Jimin to cause his mate fear but getting Jungkook away from that house and out of town was overriding all other considerations.

Once he had him safe on the mountain among his brothers then he would help him come to terms with this new reality.

The moonless night sky hid them from view as Jimin soared higher and higher up the side of the mountain, The dragon was adamant that their mate reach safety as quickly as possible.

The threat that existed in the town below was unacceptable and his mate must be protected.

That was the pervading thought as he soon landed on the expansive open lawn behind the Gatehouse.

He lay Jungkook onto the soft grass and stepped back, shifting and returning to his human form.

Jungkook lay there panting and staring at the sky and saying nothing.
