Psalm 4:8
In peace, I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety

What a beautiful black кукла you have. She would be the best asset to my collection of beauties, don't you think? You know what I want, I get.
Your good friend, Izan.
I read over the letter for the hundredth time, it looked corrugated from the number of times I had balled it into my fist and just wanted to tear it apart. The neat writing looked like the worst handwriting I had ever seen.
It was the cause of my sleepless nights and part reason for my agitation and distance from Destiny. I could not put her life at risk just to spite my stepmom, her life was way more than that and I discovered that she was not as fake as I had made her out to be after seeing her worshipping with what looked like all her heart my view of her had drastically changed.
Izan was a man that ruled on envy not strategy, he was old enough to be my grandfather but he acted like an immature five-year-old, holding grudges over century-old feuds. His anger emerged from a planned attack on his mafia which happened ten years ago when my father was still the capo of the mafioso, it was just a smartly strategized plan to take over the Russian mafia and expand the D'Angelo mafia, no hard feelings were meant to be harboured but Izan toke it by the heart and not the brain and was seeking revenge for his losing his most valuable man during the attack, resulting in the collapse meant of his mafia.
Now he was targeting innocent people, and I would not allow that, yes I was part of a mafia but we did not harm innocent people and that was what he was doing and I would not stand for that. I would not kill him but surely it would be an eye for an eye.
"Antonio!" Emma, my stepmom called as she stepped through the ajar door of my room, without knocking, just permitting herself to enter my room.
Everything she wore oozed wealth, to show off to people just how rich she was on the outside but poor on the inside. She loved showing off and right now she was wearing sky-high stilettos, with a dress worth many people's monthly salaries, not that I did not have my fair share of expensive goods but she just overdid it.
"Get out!" I snapped as stopped in her step her icy blue eyes glaring holes into mine.
She tsked, "Is that how you talk to your mother?" Taking small almost calculative steps near me.
Being only five years older than me, I did not feel the need to give her the position of my mom, rather I called her stepmom in my head than let the three letters escape through my lips.
Through gritted teeth, I said, "For the last time Emma, you are not my mom. Now leave my room."
"This is my house and I will do whatever I please in it," She smirked victoriously.
Now she was asking for it, I was never one to manhandle a woman but this woman?
I toke deep breaths, "All of this belongs to me. My father left all of this to me, including the mafia."
She started cackling uncontrollably, clutching her flat stomach in her fit of laughter, her fake extensions swaying from left to right but for the life of me, I could not find anything worth laughing hysterically about.
She raised her finger as she continued laughing, her side eye creasing with wrinkles from the numerous plastic surgeries she had to undergo for her fake doll face, reminding me of Samantha.
"Honey, this," She rolled her thin, pointy finger around the room. "Belongs to me until you get married to the woman of my choice as the will stipulated."
My gun was within arm's reach but I knew that once I shot one shot, bullets would penetrate into my whole body from all directions from my own men, even as the capo of the mafia, she still had the final say, as the widow of the former don of the D'Angelo mafia. I balled my hands into tight fists so as to not walk into my own murder trap.
"Leave my room," My anger was boiling but my voice was calm, like the wind just waiting to roar.
She rolled her eyes, "Samantha is here to see you and I expect you to be on your best behaviour because..." She toke a dramatic pause, smirking," You would not like to see yourself losing this entire empire."
The reason why she was so bent over on seeing me with Samantha was because she was her cousins' daughter, favourite cousin should I say. So it was a win-win situation for her, I would be stuck in a marriage with that Samantha whilst her conniving plan went into full swing. I knew that she had mine and Giovanni's father assassinated in cold blood and was waiting for this opportunity to end me as well, then there would be nobody to take over the throne other than her.
"I do not wish to see her, you are more than welcome to send her away," I was calmer now as I walked out of the room in search of my little sister who could change my sour mood in an instant.
"Antonio, don't you dare walk out on me!" Emma snapped, stomping her heel onto my tiled floors, I wanted to warn her against that but decided to just ignore her barbaric behaviour to avoid having an uncivilised conversation with her.
I ignored her as she continued with her shrill argument, further making my day feel even worse than it had been, first the letter now her. I would have to get some men for Destiny's safety and my peace but of course without Emma's knowledge.
Passing past Avelina's room I made my way to Giovanni's room as he was my most loyal man, whom I could trust with anything. I would see her after sorting out this problem. Portraits of my mother and father lined up on the painted walls, making me feel nostalgic so I averted my gaze from them. Why dwell on the past anyway?
His door was closed shut so I knocked on it, not wishing to walk into something that would stay imprinted into my brain. A few minutes later a groan and thump emanated from his room before the door slowly opened. Standing before me was a well-rounded man, looking sharp in an all-black suit and tie. His shoes were shiny showing the amount of energy it toke to make my reflection reflect on them. His hair was wavy and his warm blue looked at me in surprise.
"Brother?" He asked with a small smile and one furrowed brow.
"Giovanni, I need your help," I said swiftly, greetings were a waste of breath and time one of which I currently did not have.
Now both of his brows were furrowed and worry filled his blue eyes because I was not one to directly ask for help unless it was something highly important, "Okay. What can I do for you?"
Getting straight to the point I said, "I need security for Destiny."
All the worry was gone and now confusion toke over his former emotion, "Destiny as in Destiny your pretend lover?"
I rolled my eyes, "Do I have to repeat myself?" I hated it when people wanted me to reiterate something I had already said when their ears clearly heard what I had said.
He cleared his throat, "No, you do not need to repeat yourself, Destiny will have two security guards guarding her whilst hiding in plain sight twenty-four-seven."
I curtly nodded and walked away from his door now that that was sorted out I needed to call my lawyer to go through my father's will again because I was sure that it said nothing about Emma choosing a wife for me but that could wait. I made my way to my sister's room, she was the only person who could turn my sour mood into a good one.
