"Antonio?" I could not deny the pang of sadness I felt when I saw the pain swirling in her gorgeous honey-doe eyes as she looked over me, as I'm sure memories of all those years ago came rushing back to her as they did to me.
"Amore."
It was a mere acknowledgement, after all these years, she still managed to take my breath away even though she had straightened her crown and left it as a bob cut, she was the most beautiful woman in the world.
"What are you doing here?" as much as she tried to hide her pain, I heard it, I saw it, I felt it.
"In here for you, my love," I opened up as her eyes widened and she shook her head, tears filling her eyes as she took some steps backwards.
"No, I can't. Please leave," tears streaming down her cheeks as my heart broke into pieces.
"Amore?" I was begging her to give me a chance, to explain everything to her and maybe mend the brokenness in our former relationship but only if she allowed me to.
"No! Leave and never come back. Leave!" She slammed the door into my body and I slid down the door—broken.
I could hear her sobs from the other side of the door as my back faced the door and silent tears racked my entire body.
I loved her so much.
After a while, I found the courage and strength to stand up despite my messed-up state and walked to my car, before speeding away.
As soon as I reached the hotel, I didn't even bother locking up my car but went straight to the hotel room, unlocking it with my card.
"Oh, you're back. How did it go?" Giovanni asked as he watched some South African soccer.
I ignored him as I ambled to my room and shut it locked as I sunk into my bed.
If they said a man could cry a river full I wouldn't have believed it but today I did, because I was the one crying a river full.

"Dude, please open the door!" Giovanni called from the other side of the door.
I ignored him and tried going back to sleep.
"I won't let you sleep until you open this door," he banged on the door getting oh my very last nerves as I walked over and unlocked the door aggressively before returning to my bed.
"What's up with you man? I have never seen you like this. Is this about Destiny?"
He asked as he opened the blinds, allowing large rays of sunshine to enter my room without my permission and soon a small gust of Joburg air entered the room causing me to pull on my duvet.
He snatched my duvet and threw it on the floor before jumping as he sat down.
"What's wrong with you?!" I shouted as so stood up from my bed, infuriated by his childish behaviour
When would he grow up and stop acting like a twenty-five-year-old baby?
"Can't you see that I was resting and you just had to force your way into my room?!"
"Dude, listen," at that moment my fist almost collided with his jaw until I stopped and punched the pillow beside him instead, sighing as I put my head in my hands.
I was surprised as Giovanni pulled me into his chest, giving me probably the most awkward but much-needed hug in my life and that's when I realised that I might've lost a lot of people but he was still by my side. My brother.
