(Edd)
The days passed quickly enough as I watched through the back of my own mind as the new Eddward strutted from sector to sector, looking for somewhere to settle down and call home.
The entire time having Kevin's....hand iced in a bag he carried around, hidden in a satchel.

That scene played in my own thoughts over and over again. It was my body, my knife that stopped his life and I had no control over myself.

"Relax, little D, think of how many people you were going to kill eventually working with the Facility. All the innocent men and women moving to protect your target and even others that are after the target." Eddward chided chewing on some dried meat.

I thought back to what Scarlet had said and the way she nearly cried as she spoke. Without knowing why, we kill people that protect the target. Innocent people with families die in our work even those that just get out of training in the Facility and we still don't know why. We just follow blindly the orders that are given. Our 'homework' that we are assigned. The Facility and the Bottom Ground government are not that different, assigning targets to those freshly out of training, giving uniforms and supplying weaponry, hiding among average citizens to keep a low profile. The new question is, why?

Why do we do it? Why do they assign it? Why does the Facility fear Bottom Ground people's 'instinct'? Why must Bottom Ground be hidden deeper than the Facility? Who runs the Facility? Who runs Bottom Ground? Who really are the targets to these competing civilizations?

"Hey, stop with the questions."

Are you not curious as well?

"Not really."

What if it means something bad will happen?

"We hide, simple as that."

What about Stephen and Brian? What about our family?

"You are concerned about your lover boy, a rejected cousin, most everyone else on our father's side that doesn't know what a Rebel is, and the parent that hid the secret about me from you?"

Yes, and I am also concerned about my friends.

Eddward released an exasperated sigh, "Fine we'll snoop around a bit in the Facility and gather intel from Bottom Ground and see what is happening, if nothing is wrong in the world we carry about as if nothing happened, alright?"

I agree with your terms.

"Good."

(Eddward)
Brilliant little D. Let's go snoop around where we most likely be killed for being where we shouldn't, especially us! Rebels sneaking around where they are feared, the higher ups will freak and have a bounty on our head before we know it!!

I tensed hearing a familiar pattern of boots running towards my direction from the way I came. It can't be, it just can't.
I turned wide eyed my grip over the body loosened, I retightened my grip preparing for impact.

"Double D!" The pumpkin headed cowboy shouted right before slamming a fist into my chest.
Next thing I was aware of was aching pain in the back of my head, I looked up at the cowboy my vision going blurry. "H-how...?" Everything went black....

(Kevin)
I watched as slumped over unconscious from hitting the wall. I was breathless but nonetheless still angry. Stephen caught up finally panting like a dog.

"W-wow, ye sure have a.... lot of steam to vent, no?" He rasped before taking a look at Edd. "Eddward!?" The skeleton shrieked before hurrying to the unconscious body and gathering Edd in his arms.
I knelt on the other side of Edd's body, ignoring Stephen's burning glare.
"C'mon Double D, I know you're there." I spoke up. "Wake up while you have a chance."

In response to my call, Edd stirred. Stephen helped him sit up, being gentle with his head. The former dork's eyes burst open and instantly met mine.
"K-Kevin?" Edd questioned in shock. "I.... I thought."

"I'm not that easy to get rid of." I chuckled, then letting out a yelp as I was tackled.
"I am so relieved that you are alive." He whispered hugging me tight.
I couldn't help but smile, "Me too Edd, me too."
Edd's tiny frame shook as he started to cry into my shoulder. Slowly and awkwardly I slide my own arms around him and patted on his back gently. "It's okay Edd, it's okay." I gave an apologetic look to the still glaring Stephen, who was starting to turn green with envy.
Edd released his grip on me and sat back, his eyes red and nose runny. I wiped away the remaining droplets with my left hand and handed him a handkerchief, which he gladly took and blew his nose.

When he managed to finally calm down his eyes trailed down to where my stab wound was then realized something, "Your hand..." Edd's eyes began to tear up again.

"Oi Double D calm down. I got a replacement being made." I said hurriedly, rubbing his arm soothingly. "Stephen took me to a prosthetic designer and creator, it's okay."

"B-but.... I-I..." He stammered before bursting into tears.

"Double D, enough crying. That was not you, that was someone else. A different part of you." I explained, gripping his arm. "Sure the other Edd is scary and has some insane deadly crush on me but he is not you. So don't say it was you that stabbed me and took my hand 'cause it wasn't."

Edd nodded uncertain whether to believe me or not.
"Now c'mon you and him need to talk things over. Maybe I should do the same too."

"Finally an intelligent idea from you Mr. Barr." He teased weakly wiping away his tears.
I lightly punched him with my remaining hand.

"Well now that's settled," Stephen spoke up. "We aren't very far from thine destination. The Connection sector for thee who are troubled with thineselves."
I nodded and stood up, Edd followed suit and the skeleton led the way....
