Danny just stared at his computer, then turned to the practically blank page in his scrap notebook. There are many things Danny would deny help for, he rarely even accepts it from Jazz, and she basically raised him! He doesn't even like asking any of the other Leaguers for help whenever he's out of his usual city. Danny doesn't like appearing to be inadequate.
But there is one thing, the absolute bane of Danny's existence, that he would always ask help for, no matter his pride and insecurities.
Homework.
"Hey, uh, Bats?", Danny slowly floated down, holding the notebook and computer awkwardly to his chest.
Batman was working the controls on the main deck, the two were waiting for Green Lantern to return with the others in the Javelin, since they ran out of fuel after their battle, which was located practically halfway across the galaxy.
"What?", Batman asked bluntly.
"How good are you at, uh, at Geometry?", Danny asked hesitantly.
Batman stopped typing and turned to the teenaged ghost, eyeing the items in his arms with a raised brow.
"Sit.", he ordered pointing to a small bench off to the side, close so enough so he could keep an ear out for the others.
Danny was quick to follow Batman's orders, bouncing his knee nervously as he played with his pencil, spinning and flipping in through his fingers. Batman stood over Danny, eyes quickly flickering over the problem on both the computer and in the book, including Danny's multiple attempts.
"Walk me through it, slowly.", Batman instructed.
For the next twenty minutes, Batman watched and listened to Danny as he worked, correcting him and instructing him the correct processes whenever Danny struggled or got it wrong.
It was nice, and Danny felt like he walks through this with his eyes closed. Well, this unit at least. Chemistry is one thing, but Geometry is something else, and takes a little extra effort for Danny to understand. He enjoyed himself a little, and Danny thought Batman did too, at least a little. It'd be nice if he truly did enjoy himself.
Suddenly, lights on the control were blinking and Superman's voice filtered through.
"Javelin 7 to Watchtower, come in."
Batman stood up and walked back over to the controls, pressing the comm link button. Danny flew up, hovering over his shoulder excitedly, he reminds Batman of a puppy with his happiness towards the other's return.
"Watchtower here.", Batman answered.
"Prepare the Landing Bay. We're coming in.", Superman ordered.
"Just as I was starting to enjoy the peace in quiet.", Batman retorts sarcastically.
"Danny's there with you, it couldn't have been that quiet.", Superman teased.
"I was doing my homework.", Danny called out.
"Ah, that makes much more sense.", Superman replied, you clearly hear the amusement in his voice as he spoke before cutting off the comm link in order to land.
Danny pressed a couple buttons and flicked several switches, feeling the slight vibration underneath his feet let him know that he was successful in opening the Bay doors.
Just as Green Lantern was about to slowly pull the Javelin in, there was bright flash of light in the distance, that soon became a wave and consumed both the Watchtower and the Javelin with Green Lantern just outside it.
