BIBLE
Bible hadn’t doubted Build’s feelings for him—not once—until recently. For months, he had been courting him, and though Build hadn’t said the words "I love you" yet, Bible never felt the need to rush him. He understood that Build moved at his own pace, and that was okay.
But even with all that understanding, there were times when Bible needed a little assurance.
Sitting in Build’s apartment, Bible found himself scrolling through Twitter, his thoughts running in circles.
Fans had been quick to notice how he looked at Build with affection, and there were countless videos of him gazing at Build, eyes full of love.
But in every clip, it became glaringly obvious to Bible that Build never looked back at him the same way.
It wasn’t that Build didn’t care—he knew Build wasn’t as openly expressive as he was—but the lack of reciprocation stung a little.
He glanced over at Build, who was curled up on the sofa, completely engrossed in whatever was on his phone. He looked adorable, as always, but Bible couldn’t shake the gnawing feeling that maybe, just maybe, something was wrong.
“Are you hungry?” Bible asked, his voice soft.
Build didn’t seem to hear him, too absorbed in his screen.
“Buibui, are you hungry?” Bible repeated, this time a bit louder, but still gentle.
“Huh? Oh, yeah, are you?” Build responded, finally looking up.
“Mm, I’ll cook,” Bible said, getting up and heading to the kitchen.
Build smiled briefly before turning his attention back to his phone.
Bible’s heart ached slightly at the distance between them.
He wanted to bridge that gap, to reach out and connect, but he wasn’t sure how.
Instead, he busied himself with preparing a meal, hoping that maybe over dinner they could talk.
Once everything was ready, Bible set the table and called out, “Bui, let’s eat.”
Build hummed in acknowledgment and came to the kitchen.
They sat down to eat, but the silence between them was heavy, filled only with the clinking of utensils.
“Are you okay?” Bible asked, breaking the quiet. Build wasn’t usually this subdued, and it was starting to worry him.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m okay,” Build replied, though his tone didn’t convince Bible.
“You’ve been a bit off today. If something’s bothering you, you can tell me, you know?” Bible said, his voice filled with concern.
There was a long pause before Build spoke again, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Ble…” he began hesitantly. “I’m scared.”
Bible looked at him, confused. “Scared? Of what?”
Build took a deep breath, his fingers nervously playing with the edge of his napkin.
“I’ve been in relationships before, and they didn’t end well. I even introduced them to my friends and family, but it still didn’t work out. I’m just… I’m afraid we’ll end up like that. And with what just happened to Us, I don’t know… What if we end up being like them? What if it doesn’t work out?”
Bible’s heart melted.
He had been so worried about his own insecurities that he hadn’t realized Build was carrying fears of his own.
He stood up from his chair and moved to sit beside Build, taking his hand in his own.
“Build, we’re not even boyfriends yet,” Bible said, a gentle smile playing on his lips.
“We haven’t even started, so don’t jump to conclusions. And if—when—you’re ready, and we do start dating, we’ll do everything we can to be different. We’ll try our best not to end up like your past relationships. We’ll give it everything we’ve got.”
He brought Build’s hand to his lips, placing a soft kiss on it.
Build’s eyes filled with tears, his vulnerability laid bare.
“We won’t end up like that, okay?” Bible reassured him, his voice steady and full of conviction.
“We won’t?” Build asked again, his voice trembling.
Bible smiled warmly, squeezing his hand. “We won’t.” he promised.
In that moment, the fear between them seemed to melt away, replaced by a quiet understanding and a deep sense of comfort.
Bible knew that whatever came their way, they would face it together, hand in hand.
