Reader's POV:
Viewing an apartment with Billie felt oddly natural, regardless of the fact that your relationship wasn't even public knowledge yet, and she was still technically married. Obviously you weren't like moving in with her or anything but you would no doubt be spending a significant amount of time at Billie's new place and she clearly valued your input otherwise she wouldn't have invited you along.
Billie's car turned onto a quiet street in a rather picturesque neighbourhood, stopping just outside an apartment complex. You stepped out of the car, momentarily stunned by the building that towered before you. A warm hand slipped into yours suddenly stealing you from your thoughts.
"You must be Mrs Billie Dean Howard!" A tall blonde sauntered down the steps to greet you, dressed in a tailored black suit.
"Miss," Billie corrected accepting the other woman's hand in a friendly shake. You were still yet to be acknowledged.
The blonde seemed rather pleased with Billie's correction as she slowly assessed her, holding on to her hand longer than was necessary. Clearing your throat you forced a fake smile onto your face as the woman's gaze finally flicked over to you as though just registering your presence for the first time and rather annoyed at the interruption. "Lydia Norman." She introduced herself. "And this must be your daughter! Billie, you definitely do not look old enough to-"
"Girlfriend actually." You abruptly cut her off, irritation soaking through your words as you held out your hand accompanied by an icy glare.
"Oh!" Her eyebrows rose to join her hairline as she hesitantly accepted your hand, a strained smile taking form on obnoxiously bright red lips. "Right okay, well let me show you the apartment." Visibly flustered, she turned and led you both towards the entrance.
Chancing a glance at Billie, her gaze caught yours and the pair of you shared a knowing smirk as you slipped your hand inside hers and followed the realtor through the front door. After a rather awkward elevator ride, you arrived on the top floor which seemed to only have the one apartment.
Lydia began to rattle off some information to Billie about costs and what not, and you didn't miss the way she still made eyes at your girlfriend right in front of you. But being the mature adult you were, you brushed it off and took yourself on a tour of the apartment. It was very chic, fully furnished, and so very Billie, with beautiful marble countertops, a cream leather couch opposite a cosy fireplace. Floor to ceiling windows adorned the entire back wall, welcoming a soft yellow glow from the sun. A glass door towards the right opened up onto a small balcony complete with a bench and some decorative flowers.
There were two bedrooms, both twice the size of yours at home, following a similar cream theme with the prettiest pale pink walls. They both had walk in wardrobes and the master bedroom of course had an en suite with black and white tiling, that included a claw foot tub with a separate shower that was so big it could constitute as a separate room. Visions of you and Billie fooling around whilst showering together played like a movie reel in your mind, but before you got too carried away you hastily retreated back to the living area feeling significantly more hot and flustered than when you first arrived.
"So what do you think?" You jumped slightly at the sudden presence of your girlfriend as slender arms slid around your waist from behind.
You caught her reflection in the window, a melancholy smile tugging at her lips. "I think the more important question is what do you think?" You asked, craning your neck to look back at her. You couldn't deny it though, you were in love with the place and judging by the twinkle that resided in Billie's eyes, she was too.
