Reader's POV:

"I forgot to ask, your parents didn't notice you'd been gone all night did they?" Billie asked from the drivers seat of her car. You were parked not too far from your house and the time on the dashboard read 5:04pm.

You'd completely forgotten to tell Billie about what happened with your mum, being too preoccupied the last time you saw her that you'd failed to mention the encounter. "Uhm.. well, actually my dad was at work but my mum.. she was waiting for me when I got in. She knew I'd snuck out, and she was not happy. I'd never seen her so pissed before, she's usually the calm and reasonable one in the family." You announced.

Billie's face fell, a shadow of worry coasting over her features as she immediately abandoned the salad she was eating. "What did you tell her?" She asked, a note of apprehension in her voice.

"Please don't be mad at me.." you mumbled, diverting your gaze down to your lap. You could feel Billie tense beside you, waiting with baited breath for you to continue. Your name fell from her lips so smoothly, somewhat of a warning and in any other circumstance it would probably turn you on. "I was running out of excuses so.. I told her the truth. That I'm dating someone. Don't worry I didn't tell her that that someone also happens to be my English teacher. I'm not completely stupid." You finished with a nervous chuckle, lifting your gaze to meet Billie's.

The blonde nodded her head slowly, expression unreadable as she dabbed at her mouth with a napkin and then took a sip of her water. You could sense the cogs turning inside that beautiful head of hers. "You're not mad are you? I had to tell her something, I hate lying to her. She knew something was going on, I didn't know what else I was suppose to say. How else was I suppose to explain disappearing in the middle of the night?" A sliver of urgency seeped into your voice and your words came out rushed and panicked.

"It's fine." She forced a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes, you could tell that it was anything but fine. "We just need to be more careful. No more sneaking out to come and see me, ok?"

"We just need to be more careful, she says after fucking me in the bathroom stall." You mocked a little too bitterly than intended.

She ignored your comment and then hastily added; "And maybe we shouldn't be meeting up after school either. All these 'tutoring' sessions.. someone's bound to start getting suspicious."

What? Your eyebrows dipped as you watched her look anywhere but at you. "So that just leaves.. during lesson time, surrounded by 20 other students?" It was hard to keep the frustration out of your voice but what kind of relationship would it be if you only got to see each other a few hours a week? "Are you serious?"

Sensing your hostility she turned to face you, features softening as she reached for your hand. "It wouldn't be forever, just for a little while. I can't risk losing my job, y/n, not on top of everything else that's happened."

Snatching your hand back you said; "I'm beginning to think that's all you care about."

"That's not fair." Her voice wavered slightly sounding genuinely hurt. Of course you didn't mean it but you were just so sick and tired of having to hide your relationship. Lying to everyone you cared about. You just wanted to be a normal couple.

Tears pressed viciously against the back of your eyes but you managed to keep them at bay. "I'll see you tomorrow.." collecting your bag from the backseat you paused before opening the door. "Oh wait- no I won't because I don't have you tomorrow. Guess I'll see you the next day." You stepped out of the car shutting the door as Billie called your name but you just ignored her, heading in the direction of your house without so much as an I love you or a backwards glance.
