Hen hadn't realized how much she'd miss Bobby and Athena until they were gone for a few days. It'd only been about two months of knowing them, but she'd grown rather attached, as it turned out. Athena was good company, and her ally against the boys when she just needed another girl's presence. Not that she didn't love Chim, he was her best friend, but sometimes girl talk was nice with an actual girl. Not that Athena was great at it, but honestly neither was Hen so it worked out.

She missed Bobby too, she missed his quiet kindness, his responsibility. Bobby had quickly joined her in becoming the voice of reason, together they came up with ideas to keep the firehouse running smoothly and better than before. Of course they still had Buck, who could stand in very well for Bobby's actual responsibilities around the station. She even loved having Buck around, he was a ball of sunshine and fun facts that was great company and great with Denny.

Still though, she missed Bobby and Athena. She was worried about them too. If their supply run was a success then they would be living like kings, but if it wasn't...

She tried not to think about the dangers lurking around every corner out there. There were skip-tracers that could capture them and sell them to the government, there was the government themselves, and there was the league to name a few.

Bobby and Athena could handle themselves though. A red and an orange teamed up was a ridiculously overpowered duo, plus they were the oldest and had a good disguise. The odds were in their favor as much as they could be in the world they lived in.

So yes, she was worried and missing them, but she was keeping it together. Chim and Buck were keeping it together too. Chim better than Buck. Their resident golden retriever seemed to wear his heart on his sleeve.

"You know they're coming back right?" She asked the kid as she sat down on the couch next to him where he appeared to be pouting.

It was the second day without them and Buck's mood had not yet improved.

"We hope." Buck replied forlornly.

"Buck," she sighed, "You know why we split up how we did. It's the best chance for success, Bobby and Athena can hold their own. They'll be ok."

"I still wish I'd gone with them." Buck shrugged, "at least then I could've helped if something went wrong. All I can do here is power a damn microwave."

"That's not true." Hen frowned, "you do so much more than power the microwave, Buck. Plus there's always a chance that we run into trouble here, and I for one want you here to help protect us."

"Really?" Buck tilted his head to look at her, sad yet hopeful puppy dog eyes in full effect.

"Yeah, Buckaroo." She assured him wrapping an arm around him and pulling him into her side. "I also happen to like your company."

"Thanks, Hen." He sighed, resting his head on her shoulder and curling into her side, "Can you explain square roots again?"

She chuckled, knowing that Buck just wanted to listen to her instead of actually learn math. She was more than willing to oblige though.

......................................................................

"Again? Seriously!" Chim exclaimed putting his head in his hands, "How? How do you keep winning?!"

Hen just laughed, Buck and Denny had already gone to bed and Chim and Hen were left up playing speed with the deck of cards they'd found in one of the drawers.

"It might have a little something to do with me being a green, perhaps?" She smirked at him and he groaned.

"That's totally cheating!" He complained, "We agreed no using our powers to win card games."
