Buck wasn't doing good. He was knocked out, freezing cold, and had clearly been bleeding a not insignificant amount. That being said, he was probably going to be alright. She and Chim had gotten to him at a good point, before he'd really pushed himself over the edge of what they could fix.
It was still difficult, fixing Buck, given their current situation, lack of supplies, and the fact that she and Chim couldn't consult Buck himself. Bobby and Albert, who she hadn't had a chance to really analyze yet, but she was tabling that for later, had brought back some supplies. Unfortunately, that supplies was limited to some bandages, two bottles of water, and three of those tinfoil looking shock blankets.
It would have to be enough.
"This is so weird." Chim commented, from where he was sitting at Buck's feet, "and also uncomfortable, how long do we do this for?"
She'd already bandaged Buck's arm, which had been bleeding for god only knows how long, and they'd wrapped him in one of the tinfoil blankets. She knew they weren't actually made of tinfoil, but she also didn't actually know what they were made of, just that they were good at trapping heat. Buck would probably know.
Chim currently had Buck's bare feet under his shirt and pressed against his chest. Bobby had Buck's hands in his armpits. It was weird, but they didn't have bowls of room temperature water available to them, and Buck's fingers and toes were showing signs of frostbite.
"I don't know, how ever long it takes until his fingers and toes don't look like they might shrivel up and die and fall off." Hen said, more than a little stressed because this was Buck, and his condition was salvageable, but there could also be disastrous consequences if she didn't make the right decisions.
Besides, she'd never had to treat someone who was unconscious before. It was different, and this was someone she cared about damnit.
"Ok, ok, Hen, it's alright." Bobby soothed, "Buck is going to be fine, we're doing all that we can and it's enough. He's here, he's breathing, and he doesn't seem to have any immediate life threatening injuries. We're in good shape, take a breath, alright?"
She did as instructed, then she took another breath, feeling her heart rate slow at the action, "Yeah, yeah, he'll be ok." She nodded while she finished wrapping the bandages around his forearm where he had a nasty gash.
It was silent for another moment before Chim piped up, "Soooo," he drawled, "we're definitely never telling him that Bobby and I did this, right?"
That startled a laugh out of her, "Are you kidding? I'm telling everyone about this."
Chim groaned, but didn't look all that put out by it. She knew him well enough to know that there wasn't a world where he wouldn't do this for any of them, damn the embarrassment.
She looked over to where the kid Bobby had brought back was sitting, watching them all with laser focus. He was wrapped up in one of the tinfoil blankets, but he still looked cold and maybe a bit sick too.
"Hey, Albert, right?" She asked, and the kid's gaze snapped up to hers and he nodded, "How're you feeling, you were in the flood too right?"
"Uh, yeah, I was, but I didn't get the worst of it." The boy shrugged, pulling the blanket tighter around himself, "Buck is much worse off, you should focus on him."
"I've done just about all that I can do for him, those two just need to stay there until he's warmed up now." She gestured to Bobby and Chim, "You might have some frostbite too though, especially having been out in that water for so long."
Albert shook his head again, "I'm ok, I promise, Maddie, uh, Buck's sister, I hang out with her a lot and she spends half her time working in the infirmary and so she told me about frostbite and ways to keep warm and stuff. I kept my hands in my armpits pretty much the whole time, so I'm okay."
