"So... That's our story. I don't recall Logan giving that much detail about yours." I sighed and leaned forward to move the conversation towards them now that we've practically talked about Mace and I's relationship throughout the whole dinner.
"I think we'll need more wine if we are to start from the beginning." Logan jokes as he rises up from his chair and walks to the kitchen to uncork one of the numerous bottles of wine they brought with them.
Emma smiles to herself, and leans the weight of her head in her palm, her elbow resting on the table in front of my man. Her sight is lost on memories flashing in her head. Marcel leans back against his chair in response, an arm wrapping around my shoulders. I'm immediately pleased with the contact, a shiver running through my whole being.
"My best friend, Michael, was receiving an award at a literary gala downtown Montreal. Logan was the host. He stole my glass of champagne." Emma begins, but she's immediately cut by Logan coming back to the table, filling our glasses and adding more to the story.
"It wasn't hers to begin with. I just got to it seconds before her. She was fiery and I was intrigued."
"The truth is, he wanted to fuck me."
"It wasn't like it was a one way street."
"I would never have wasted a chance to get together with one of the most prolific writers in town. Sex was just a bonus."
"But didn't you know he was your professor?"
"Not yet. Or else I wouldn't have acted the way I did."
"What did you do?"
"She tied me to the bed. Don't get me wrong, I'm a kinky guy, but I didn't even have the time to catch my breath when she got dressed and left me there. Let's say it was a sweet revenge to see her little face in my classroom the following days."
"Oh Lord! I think I would have died of anxiety." I murmur to Emma now laughing about the situation.
"I almost did. I knew it couldn't have taken him more than five minutes to get out of his restraints, but I still felt bad. I was second guessing every decision I had made that night, and I didn't want this personal situation to influence my grades. So I wrote him an apology letter, and we got to talk about what had happened."
"How did you feel in that situation?" I ask Logan directly, excited and thankful that they share so much about themselves.
"The truth is, I invited her over to sleep with her. But I just couldn't get her out of my mind. I was offended that she dared to leave me like that. And yet, that's exactly the reason I found myself just obsessing over her. I obsessed about the kind of revenge I would do if we were to meet again. And we did. And I felt how scared she was to be completely at my mercy at school, and I realised how wrong it would be to make her pay. All I wanted was to see her again, not to avenge what she'd done to me."
"How did you fall in love?" I inquire.
They look at each other and smile to the ground. Emma is the first to meet my gaze and respond.
"I mean... He's Logan Kent. He is the absolute fantasy. My fantasy, at least. He is successful, famous, remarkably gorgeous, and the sex was just the cherry on top. And we really got along on a human level. It was easy to fall for him. He made it easy. I was just... little old nobody, while he was... him."
She gets lost in thoughts, but I couldn't understand her more, from the way I first felt when I met him, to relate with my own feelings when Marcel first shared his interest in me.
