When I woke up I was still in David's arms. I turned over and was stopped by his arms tightening around me.
"I hope you know I'm addicted to you and I don't think I can let you go now." I feel him bury his face in my hair and smile after he spoke.
"Well I think you might go mad. Because I have to pee." I smile back at him and he groans.
He let's me go and I run the the bathroom. When I return he's up and putting on a new shirt.
"I'd offer you clothes but I don't think anyone in the pack would be your size. Not even lacy is as small as you."
"That's OK. Actually I need to go home and get dressed. I haven't seen my dad in a while and I need to talk to my boss so she knows I'm ok." I tie my long hair into a ponytail and head for the door.
"Oh, no you don't. You were stabbed and need to rest." He pulls me back to the bed and sits me down. "Now show me your wound and let me see how bad it is."
I pull up my shirt and look at the wound. It's scabbed up and looked horrible. Although it looked a hell of a lot better than a gaping hole in my stomach.
"Damn. What the hell is in your bloodline?" David is starring at my wound with curiosity.
"What do you mean? I thought I was a fox. And how do I even call my fox or turn into her. Or do I even do that? And can I talk to other foxes? IS there a comunity of foxes like there are for wolves? Do all foxes heal like I do or run like I do? Can they make beds float?" I'm interupted by David Putting a finger over my mouth.
"Slow down little one. We have plenty of time for questions and answers. No. Other foxes can't heal like you. Or move beds with their minds. Yes they turn into foxes and I'm sure you can to. I don't know if its the same as a wolf shift but if it is then you just think of yourself in fox form and push your energy to transform. But if you've never shifted before you have to wait until your fox is ready for the first time. Foxes are lone creatures. They have small families but other than their imediate family they typically stay alone until they find their mates. I don't think I've ever heard of a fox that has been mated to a wolf. Considering foxes like to be alone and wolves are pack animals. But I'm willing to make it work. I'm sure you can mindlink others. Wolves included. Only thing is, I've never heard of any shifter that hasn't shifted before 13. Most shifters shift at around 10. For you to be 16 and still never shifted or even hearing your fox for the first time yesterday is really weird."
He answers almost all my questions with no judgment in his words.
"So I'm not supposed to be able to heal like this? What kind of shifter does that?"
"None. I only know of witches that can use spells to heal them that fast." He stops for a second and confusion shadows his face. "Unless... No that's not possible. It's just a stupid bbedtime story."
"What's a bedtime story?" He looks at me like he didn't mean to say that part out.
"Oh, There's this stupid story parents used to tell their pups about a fox. A white fox. They say that the white fox is going to come one day and be the destroyer of the wolf world. There's even a law that if we find a white fox shifter that we have to turn them over to the council."
My blood ran cold. A white. fox? But if my fox is like the one that was in my dream then he's gonna turn me in.
"Why a white fox? Aren't they're any white foxes in the fox community?"
I guess he heard the nervousness in my voice because he smiles reasurringly. "There's no need to worry. White foxes are a myth. And besides, you won't know what color your fox is until you shift. And even then you won't be white."
