Levi's P.O.V.
I watched as she changed and fell into bed. She fell asleep so fast she didn't cover up before she was lightly snoring. With a wave of my hand, the lock on the door clicked into place.
I cover her up and sit next to her. I must be the most unlucky demon in the whole underworld. A witch mate. The only person I can't use my powers on. I can't read her mind. I can't make her obey my every command. I can't put her in a trance. Nothing.
I read the mind of Cane. He doesn't know much about her. Just that she's white fox and witch. And that she was hurt by some guy named Westley. I saw Nova watch her past mate die through his mind. She looked horrified.
I never want to see her like that again.
What am I saying? I'm a demon. Stupid mate bond. I'm going to find a witch and make her destroy the bond without the pain of rejection.
I stared at her for what could have been an hour. Her hair spread around one side of the pillow like a golden fan. I've always liked brunettes. I've never dated a blonde before.
My eyes wandered to her neck. There were scarres and faded bruises. I felt my blood boil. A growl slipped from my lips and she flinched in her sleep.
Damn. I hope I didn't wake her up. I stood up and teleported to the spot I was in before. I was hidden by the shadows so she wouldn't see me unless she was focused on the darkest part of the room.
She turned on her side and curled into a loose ball. Her hand clamped down on the pillow and a small whimper escaped her lips.
She's dreaming. I tried to use my powers on her so I could see her dream, but nothing happened.
She whimpered again and a sob broke from her chest. She clutched the pillow tighter and started mumbling.
"Please. Stop." She was quiet. Almost too quiet for me to pick up on. Then she started thrashing. Turning left and right in bed.
"Westley. Please let me go." She had tears soaking the pillow. I stood frozen.
I wanted to help her. To wake her up. But I'm a demon. I don't have feelings. I don't care for anyone. That won't change now.
"I'm so sick of saving myself. Just kill me." She was a sobbing mess. When she said that I stepped forward. Does she want to die? The thought made me close the distance between us.
I reached out and froze. If I give in to this stupid bond it'll be harder to let go. I should go home. Find a witch then move on and keep making deals. I'm a damn envy demon. Why is it so hard to just walk away?
She started kicking and her fingers tangled in her hair. Her sobs and whimpers turned into screams.
I grabbed her and shook her shoulders. "Nova." Her name was like blood in my mouth. Warm and sweet. But a bitterness that only blood has.
She squeezed her eyes shut and stopped kicking and screaming. Her tears were drenching the pillow and her hair. She was sweating and her breathing was getting quicker by the second.
I pulled her close to me and ran my fingers through her silky hair.
"Shh. It's ok. I'm here. It's a dream. You're dreaming, darling. Everything is ok. Just breath. It's just a bad dream. You're ok I promise."
She grabbed my shirt and squeezed. "David!" She screamed his name over and over. She must be dreaming about him dying.
I pulled her on top of me and held her to my chest. "It's ok, Nova," I whispered. The little sparks of electricity shot through our skin as we touched. I reveled in the way she pulled me closer.
