I was in the clearing. The one that I've seen my parents get murdered in. But that wasn't right. That's not how it happened. David died. He was the one to die in the clearing. Not my parents.

I spun around and saw David. He was screaming something. I couldn't hear him. He was so close to me but it was like he wasn't going anywhere. Running at me. Still screaming. He just kept screaming words I couldn't hear.

When I took a step forward the ground crumbled underneath me. All I saw before I fell was David smiling.

"I told you I would get my revenge."

I fell into blackness. I thought I was floating until cold water rushed through my senses. I saw the moon through the water. Sparkling like it was rolled in glitter.

I swam up until I couldn't push myself to keep swimming. I was going to drown. I can't reach the top in time. I started thrashing and kicking with all my might. I still couldn't get up. Instead, I was sinking. Getting lower and lower in the water. I screamed. I called for the one person I could think of. I don't wanna die this way. I screamed for Cane until my throat was raw.

I shot up in bed and screamed out Cane's name. He was already by my side. He was looking at me with concern written all over his face.

"It's ok. I'm here. It was a dream. Nova, everything is ok." He gently took my shoulders and pulled me forward, embracing me in a hug. "It's ok, Luna."

I felt myself shaking and sweat was building up on my neck. I pulled away after what felt like hours, but couldn't have been more than a few minutes. Looking outside, I saw the morning sun streaming light into the room.

"Are you ok now? I can get you some water if you need it." Cane stood up and gave me some space. I nodded my head and wiped my forehead.

"Yeah, I'm good. I'm fine." I stood up and looked out the window. It was pouring.

"We should really figure out your powers. They are starting to make problems for our veggie garden." Cane looked out the window with me.

"We have a vegetable garden?" I looked at him with curiosity.

"No." he laughed. I smiled. "Now. That's what I'm looking for." He put his arm around my shoulder. I felt at ease with him here. He turned around and headed towards the door. "I'll go get some water. Then we can go back and look at the books in the library. If you're up for that, that is."

I started walking to him. "Of course it is. Although, I'm more of a coffee drinker. So I'll go down to the kitchen and fix myself a cup." I walked down the hallway with him right on my tail.

When we got to the kitchen Austin was looking in the fridge. I grabbed the pot and filled it with water. His head shot up and a loud bang reverberated around the room.

"Damn. Did you hit it hard enough or you wanna try that again?" Cane cracks at him. He smiled and stood up all the way.

"No. I think I'm fine." His laugh seemed forced and embarrassed. I finished fixing the pot and sat on the counter while I waited for it to make. Cane sat on a stool at the island. Austin pulled some bread from the counter and pulled out the toaster.

"I hate fixing our own food. We should hire a cook. Someone that can fix us steaks and baked potatoes." Austin stuck the bread in the toaster and grabbed the butter.

"This isn't Texas roadhouse. Fix your toast and go." Cane sounded like a father. Austin put his chin on his hands and pouted.

"I can make you breakfast. I'm pretty good at cooking big clusters of food." I hopped down from the counter and opened the freezer. "So I can make bacon. It looks like this deer sausage can make some breakfast sausage. It won't be as good as normal breakfast sausage but it'll do. I'm sure we have eggs."
