I was biting my nails for the first time in years as I stared at Joe. I couldn't stand it anymore and I entrusted him the task of calling Rudi to know about him. I looked dismayed at my perfect nail now spoiled as my faithful Joe was doing me a favour once more.

- Amandine? Where is she?

He turned to me raising his eyebrow. I mimicked with my lips I'M NOT HERE.

- She's busy. Yep, with Farrokh. Okay, tomorrow she's talking to you. Take care.

I looked daggers at him as he put down the phone.

- Tomorrow he's not gonna hear my voice. Why did you tell him that?

- Because that's what he wanted to hear.

- That's not the way things work, Joe. Not always we can get what we want.

- I don't know why you don't trust him. He's a great guy. Good-looking, nice, polite, sexy. He has it all. Such a pity he's not gay.

- Clint also has all those things. Didn't you work things out?

- We're giving ourselves a bit of a break. Don't let Freddie know it, okay? I don't wanna hear his "older brother" speech.

- What's wrong?

- I think it's not a good idea getting involved with him.

- Why? You really liked Clint. He was the first man with whom you felt really good since Freddie. You told me that.

- I know what I've told you but there's a little detail. I'm gonna die.

- If I'm hearing that again, I will kill you myself. Tell me what the doctor told you about the reddish spot.

- I don't know, he deferred me to a dermatologist.

- So?

- I'm not going.

- Joe, don't be so stubborn.

- You're a fine one to talk. The queen of the stubborns.

- This is serious. It's your health. You look thinner and thinner.

- So do you. Being in love don't suit you fine.

- You want me to change the conversation but you won't get it.

- Tomorrow when I'm calling again, I will drag you to the phone to talk to him. He just wants to hear your voice. He's soooo cute.

- I've told you before. I lost my faith in him. It's so hard to trust again when something like that happens.

- It didn't happen anything objectionable. That relationship surely was already over. He didn't cheat on you.

- I think your idea about cheating is a little different than mine. His girlfriend didn't seem to treat me as though their relationship was over.
