Chapter 27, The right decision?

KONAN'S POV

It has been a week since Sasuke returned and he was still affected by what happened to his mother. He was not eating, not talking, not showering. I would stop by daily with food, but the food was always where I left it the day before. All he did was compulsively smoke and lay in bed.

I entered his room and opened the windows. It was a cold January day. The light made him cover his head with the blanket.

"Sasuke, why didn't you eat the food from yesterday?"

No answer

"You have to eat something. You have to talk to me."

Still no answer.

I went next to his bed, and I pulled the blanket off him making him uncomfortable.

"What the fuck?!" He jumped annoyed

"Why are you not answering me?"

"You're not my mother. Leave me alone"

Those words... in the few days spent trying to help him recover, I felt that I have a little brother to take care of.

"This has to stop. You have to pick yourself together..."

"Why? What is left for me in this damned world?"

Without no hesitation I said the name that made him snap

"What about Hinata?"

Sasuke furrowed his eyebrows and got up from his bed and looked at the window with his back at me. I saw him clench his fists.

"I don't want to hear that name"

"W-what?" I asked shocked

"I don't want to be part of... her life anymore"

His words were cold and emotionless.

"Look, you have gone through a lot lately... It's normal to feel like this but... is not her fault"

"I don't want to talk about it. I stopped attaching myself to other people"

He was affected. I don't believe his words... I am sure he still loves Hinata, but he needs more time. I had to know if there was any chance for her to be alive.

"I understand. Could you at least tell me if... if she was alive when you last saw her?"

"Yes"

Hearing this made me think that there is still hope for her to be alive now. Maybe she returned back to the village? I need to investigate.

"I have to go and run some business with the gang. Look, I know you don't like me, but I have big plans and I need your help too so try to come back to your senses and let's make that bastard pay for what he did. I leave you this mobile phone so call me when you are ready to function. Don't forget that you're well respected in the gang and we need you there. Think about it and let me know your answer by the end of the week. Oh and, Suigetsu and Juugo want to come and see you too."

I saw that he didn't say anything and after leaving the food on the table, I left calling Suigetsu and Juugo.

"How is he??" Suigetsu asked
