"Hinata, I want to be with you" "W-what?" I asked shocked. "I like you. And I want to be with you" "What are you saying...?" "I'm saying, more than friends"
He's really saying it? No, no, no... this can't be happening. I can't do this right now. I let go of his hand and stood up. I felt my face burning and my heart was beating really fast. My mind froze. I was speechless. Is this for real? What is he telling me right now? I turned my back at him and touched my chest, trying to keep calm but it was impossible. In that moment I had a flashback of how my relationship with Naruto ended. I didn't really get over him. Sasuke was really nice to me and I started to care about him as a friend but... I never imagined it will get to this point. I had no idea what to say next.
And then... the answer came as Raiden's wicked image appeared in my head. I felt chills down my spine just thinking about him but the answer is clear now. I can't put Sasuke at risk. I just can't.
I flinched as I felt Sasuke's hand touching my shoulder. He was standing behind me.
"Hey, are you okay?" He asked worried. "Y-yes..." I answered sighing as I turned around to face him.
His expression changed once he saw my face. I guess he knows what I'm about to say next... So I gathered all my courage and looked into his black eyes trying to get the words out of my mouth.
"You don't have to answer me right n-" "I'm sorry", I cut his words, "but I can only offer you my friendship and nothing more"
Sasuke's expression changed as he clearly understood my message. He stared at me for few seconds, frowned and went close to the lake, leaving me one step behind. He put his hand in his pocket, took one cigarette and lit it up. He wasn't happy with my answer. I felt sorry for him but I don't want to drag anyone in my misery.
"I'm sorry" I said again.
"You really should stop apologizing" he said coldly as he took a long puff.
I nodded but he didn't see me.
"Is it because of that loser?" he asked not turning around. "Huh?" I asked confused "You know. That loser who didn't had the balls to stand out for you when you needed it most" he said coldly. He was upset.
"N-Naruto? ... N-no is not that... I..."
He turned around and came close to me, leaning down close to my face and stared into my eyes with his intimidating eyes.
"Yeah, that idiot who let you lie on the ground in the middle of the park at night, not even bothering to look back when you fainted. Admit it, you still care about that douchebag, don't you?" his voice was sharp.
"S-stop calling him that!" I protested but then I realized that I protected Naruto again which made things worse for Sasuke who scoffed nervously.
"Hmph. I knew it...Forget I asked" he answered irritated "Sasuke...." "I think it's time to take you home" he said coldly as he went to his car.
