Angel's PoV

Song- Working For The Weekend by Loverboy

I sat in my office fiddling with paperwork for supplies.

"Hey, Dr. Duncan" I looked up to see one of my assistants.

"Hey, Angela, what's up?" I asked as I set my pen down, looking at her warmly, I hired her because she could talk to animals upon first meeting.

"We have a fox cub, hit by a car... Your assistance is needed" She said and I jumped up following her, we were a clinic meant for exotic and domestic, or a mixed animal clinic.

"Please I didn't know where else to go... She came out of nowhere" the woman said eyes wide in worry and I smiled reassuringly.

"Let's see her" I said motioning for the cub.

I inspected her rubbing through her fur and felt a few things.

"She's got a broken rib, third rib on the right, distal bone to the elbow and her heart is slowing down." I recited quickly picking her up carefully. I rushed to the back room getting her medical help.

I finished 2.5 hours after bringing her to the clinic.

"Will she be okay?" The woman asked worried, she had been crying for the most part.

"She is stable, and will be okay" I said smiling warmly. The woman visibly relaxed her hand on her chest.

"She is safe here, you can go ma'am, thank you for bringing her in, instead of leaving her there" I said smiling gently.

The woman stood and hugged me tightly before leaving, I smiled watching her leave as I went back to check on the fox cub who was still sleeping.

I walked back to my office, finishing up the order forms, writing smoothly and putting them aside.

*After work*

I walked to my car, grabbing my keys.

"Angel?" I spun upon hearing my name confused and my breath caught in my throat. It was Lioness but she wasn't alone, Dragoking was draped injured over her shoulders and my eyes were wide.

"What do you want me to do!?" I asked fearfully, eyes wide as I led them inside. Everyone left for the night.

"Put them there" I pointed to the table, getting what I needed so I could help clean him up.

"Why did you come to me?" I asked her and she looked at me mouth in a thin line.

"You helped me, you were literally in mortal danger. But you still helped me without question" Lioness explained and I looked at her shocked.

" I trust you" She said honestly as I got to work on fixing up Dragoking, I really shouldn't have but I can't just let someone die like that.

I finished sitting on one of the spinning clinic chairs while Lioness cuddled with the Calico rescue we took in for the clinic, Marble was good with all animals and loved people so she was a perfect choice for free roam, and she doesn't try to escape either. I let out a low breath sleep deprivation hitting me like a tidal wave, Lioness looked at me and studied me quietly.

"You're a vet" she stated matter of factly and I nodded gently, breathing out again looking up.

"Well Angel's Animal Rescue, AAR. Perfect Clinic name, it's got charm" She said smiling, flashing her sharp canines in amusement.

I looked at her and returned the smile before my gaze swept to Dragoking, my head to the side curiously like a bird.

"Who attacked him?" I asked and Lioness sighed heavily.

"Kraken got the upper hand" She said frowning, I hummed mouth drawn into a thin line.

"I really appreciate you patching him up... Our only healer is kind of... MIA...." I frowned, worried eyes downcast knowing exactly where their healer was, and how someone almost died because of their childish behavior.

"I know where your healer is, her name... Lemon Drop" I said head to the side and Lioness snapped her head to me and I flinched.

"For now we make sure he's okay" I said honestly, biting my lip uneasily.

"You're going to make a difference. A lot of times it won't be huge, it won't be visible even. But it will matter just the same" - James Gordon
