Chapter 22 (Happy New Years)

New Year's Special

Damian's PoV

Song: Shut Up and Dance by WALK THE MOON

I had set everything up, we were having the whole gang for New Years, Cody had backed off for a little while. Too busy with our parents to really be able to plan anything. I can tell poor Angel is stressed about my well being with Cody trying to start stuff for me.

Jackson, Christina, Linda, and Gabriella all bustled in my Living Room, or Movie room as Angel calls it. Drinks in hand gentle music played in the back ground it was the last day of the year. Angel was sitting watching the count down exhausted out of her skull. She hates staying up too late.

I made my way to her, everyone had calmed down from the games and drinking, Angel looked absolutely burnt out from it all. I looked at her sympathetically as I sat down with her and she perked up again, a bright smile on her face again. Lately she's been much more relaxed, sleeping longer and deeper too. She used to get nightmares I could hear them most nights, but I noticed if I am sharing the bed with her she sleeps better.

"You joining me in my room tonight?" I asked her and she looked at me confused.

"I am guessing since I gave Linda and Gabriella my room for the night" She said amused and I grinned at her widely. There is no way this girl could be the one I grew up with, she does stuff I never imagined goody two shoed Angel would do. But then again, I never hung out with her often enough growing up.

Jackson caught my eye across the way, motioning at the TV that was hitting the count down to midnight and I nudged Angel to get her attention as everyone started counting down.

"10... 9.... 8... 7... 6... 5..." We started counting down, I was going to kiss Angel when we got to 1, I had made sure with her beforehand got to have consent of course. 

"4, 3, 2, 1!" I turned to Angel as we did and I kissed her, nothing too fierce but enough to show my passion. She hummed in surprise as she responded gently in return, sweet but gentle. I pulled away, Jackson had kissed Christina on the cheek, while Linda and Gabriella broke their kiss as well.

Christina was a blushing mess, her blonde hair standing out compared to her crimson face. Angel and I began to laugh slightly as Gabriella led a very drunk Linda upstairs to the guest room.

"Christina and I are going to head home, see you next time" Jackson said as I waved at them while they left. The door clicked shut and I turned to Angel who was now wide awake again and I chuckled amused at her frustration.

"Want to watch a movie?" I asked not wanting to leave her alone downstairs in fear of her wanting company but too scared to actually ask for it.

"Sure" She said smiling gently in acceptance and I smiled at her in return. 

"What movie?" I asked and a grin spread across her face in slight glee.

"Home Alone" She said without hesitation and I smiled at her childlike glee. 

I smiled clicking on the movie in the selection menu, I had a whole roster of movies on a memory drive, thanks to my mother who also grew up on these movies.

The movie started and Angel got comfortable next to me, leaning on me as I wrapped my arm around her pulling her into my embrace her body relaxing as she watched one of the classics. 

Angel slowly drifted but she shot awake again, I smiled at her antiques to stay awake, she grumbled uneasily at the fact she was falling asleep but I chuckled softly. 

"Darling, I think it's safe to say we should go to bed" I said and she huffed gently in response as I smiled at her. 

"Come on. You will still get cuddles" I said coyly. She huffed again as I turned off the TV and she groggily got up, her eye lids heavy.

"Come on Love" I coaxed and she hummed in response as I led her upstairs, turning off lights as we went. 

"Damian..." She mumbled gently as we got to my room, I hummed in response as I ushered her into the bed, she sunk into the bed, under the covers humming response to the warmth now covering her.

I got into some PJ pants, and I slipped under the covers with her, kissing her head as she nestled into me. Letting out a feline like purr at the warmth my body gave out. 

"Damian?" She whispered out gently, I brushed my hand over her hair gently.

"Yes Darling?" I hummed in thought.

"You won't betray me right?" She mumbled out sadly not really realizing what she was saying.

"Never. I will never do anything to hurt you. Never" I said gently kissing her forehead and she was silent for a second, I had thought she had fallen asleep. 

"Why?" She asked finally startling me suddenly and I let out a hum.

"Because, I have cared about you since we were kids, I have told you this before Love" I said gently rubbing circles into her soft skin. She let out a gentle breath as I did so, hugging her to me gently as I could.

"I know... Just what Cody did... Hurt" Was all she said as she slowly drifted to sleep and I sighed kissing her forehead again.

"I will care for you for as long as you allow me to. I will not let go unless you ask me to" I said gently tightening my squeeze slightly, as I too slowly drifted into a nice warm slumber.
