Early one morning, thr fog rolled in across the streets of Jump City. The autumn air lie still over the city as the morning traffic held up the streets with everyone patiently waiting with similar sleepy looks on their faces.
Meanwhile, in a small Cafe overlooking the water, Raven and Peter sat alone at the end of the bar. Other than the batista working there, they were the only ones there. They huddled close together as one of the women poured their cups and handed them to each of them steaming hot. Their tea was bright red, still swirling from being stirred.
Peter took the cup in hand and cautiously blew on it, before taking a sip. "Mm." He hummed with a pleasant smile. Raven cracked a slight grin in both amusement and adoration at him and casually took a sip of hers. "That's really really nice!" He said with a wide grin in astonishment. "Wow!"
"See?" She replied with a proud smirk. "Sometimes Herbal tea beats coffee, right?"
"But coffee is life." Peter replied with a wide, daring smirk, before laughing at her roll of the eyes.
"You're hopeless." She replied sarcastically then gave him another smirk.
"What did you say this was?" He replied curiously.
"Lavender, hibiscus, rose hips, orange peels, and honey." She replied with a shrug. "I know it's a lot, but I like it."
"It's delicious!" He breathed out, before eagerly taking another sip.
"Well I'm glad you like it." She nodded, trying to hide her bashful grin. "A lot of the others usually don't wanna do this kind of stuff... they think it's a snore fest."
Peter gave a light chuckle and nodded. "That sounds like them." He replied. "Still, I enjoy a little peace and quiet sometimes too. The way I see it, you've got it figured out."
"Yeah right." She chuckled with a roll of the eyes.
"What?" He shrugged with a wide grin.
"There's PLENTY I don't have figured out." She scoffed before taking another sip of her tea.
"Let's see." He replied, staring off as if to look deep in thought. "You keep to yourself so as to avoid anyone's bullshit." Then he gave her a sideways glance and a smirk. "Very smart in my opinion. Um... you read very often, so you know you have a healthy brain. You know how to do magic as well as the mystical secrets of tea." Raven gave a light chuckle and watched his antics in amusement. "At this point I'm wondering what you don't know."
Raven gave another light chuckle before giving him a playful nudge. "You think too highly of me."
Peter gave a laugh at that before shrugginghis shoulders. "You should've thought about that before you let me worship you in the bedroom."
"Is that what you call it?" She replied with a chuckle, a little red in the face from the mentioning of it.
Peter folded his arms and gave a eager nod with a wide smirk. "Absolutely. That's what I'm calling it."
"You're ridiculous." She chuckled with a roll of the eyes, still blushing.
"Hey Flash said I'm a bottom." Peter shrugged, then leaned in closely to her ear. "And I accept that." He whispered, sending a shiver up her spine.
"Okay." She replied with a slight smirk, before pushing him away. "You need to stop doing that."
"Doing what?" He asked with a teasing smirk.
"I actually like this place." She replied with a roll of the eyes. "I'd hate to get kicked out for breaking something."
"I don't know what you're talking about." He replied with a wide teasing smirk.
Raven rolled her eyes. "Uh huh." Before taking another sip.
She hummed with a satisfied breath and allowed herself to take in the calm atmosphere for a moment.
"So." Peter said, leaning in eagerly. "I think I've finally figured out who Batman is."
Raven rolled her eyes at that. "Ugh! Not this again."
"No no wait!" He insisted, leaving in closer to her with a light chuckle. "I'm serious this time."
"Look, even if you're right." She replied in a hushed tone. "We're kinda not supposed to talk about this in public."
"Oh come on." He chuckled.
"How would you like it if he was discussing the same thing in public about you?" She replied with a smirk of disbelief.
"I mean yeah, good point." Peter shrugged. "Then again he figured it out when I first met him... just like you guys. Plus theres nobody here."
"So... you're just bad at it is what you're saying?" She replied with a teasing smirk.
"I am NOT!" He scoffed, but she peered at him with a look of disbelief and after a brief silence, she broke him down. "Okay, fine. Maybe I'm a LITTLE bad at it."
"Mhmm." She hummed with a nod before casually taking a sip of her tea.
Peter persisted with his conversation, however and leaned in again. "Just humor me." Raven rolled her eyes before looking at him with an amused smirk. "Okay, so I narrowed it down to men of the right age, built, skin, tone, etc."
"Uh huh?" She replied.
"And also I figured with all the gadgets he has and given his location." He explained as Raven took another sip. "I figured it HAS to be that Bruce Wayne guy!"
At that moment, Raven nearly spit out her tea and looked at him, her eyes widened in disbelief.
"Are you-?" She paused briefly to check if anybody was too close. "Are you fucking kidding me?" She hissed under her breath.
Peter nearly burst into laughter at that moment. "Woah. I've never heard you curse before. I figured you were a little goody two shoes."
Raven peered at him at that. "Shut up." That caused him to laugh again. "And how the hell did you figure that out?!" She hissed under her breath.
"Common sense, really." Peter shrugged. "He checked all the boxes. It was between either him or Lex Luthor, but eh... there's no forgetting that immaculate jawline."
"Oh my god." Raven rolled her eyes, chuckling lightly along with him. "You're ridiculous."
Peter laughed before swallowing the last of his tea and set the cup aside. He hummed pleasantly, enjoying the effects the tea had on him. His muscles were relaxed, his breathing steady, and his mind calm.
"Wow." He breathed out with a wide smile.
"Hmm?" Raven blinked at him.
"This feels SO nice." He replied, sitting back in his chair.
"See?" She shrugged. "You don't always have to brew it for me. You could stand to join me every once in a while.
Peter nodded at that, then glanced at her with a flirtatious grin. "Mhmm. Mama Raven does know what she's talking about."
"Do NOT call me that." She snapped, her face red as she tried to hold in her laughter.
"What?" He chuckled, "Mama Raven?"
"Yes!" She replied, even redder than before. "That!"
Peter laughed harder at that. "Okay then... mistress?"
"No!" She chuckled, shaking her head as she rose from her seat. "NONE of that!"
"Yes mistress." He teased as he rose from his sea after her.
"Stop talking." She replied as they left the Cafe. "Let's hurry back before we're late."
As they walked out the doors to the Cafe and rounded the corner where nobody could see them, she waved her hands and a black portal opened up in front of them. They both casually waked through and were instantly transported into the crime lab inside Titan's Tower. Robin and the others were already there standing around the holographic projector in the center of the room.
"Cutting it close." Cyborg teased, folding his arms.
"Don't start." Raven replied flatly as she and Peter stood on each side of Robin and looked down at the projection.
"Let's start." Robin nodded and turned to the projection which showed a small island with a large mountain towering over the center of it. One the south side of the island stood an old, stone fort, crumbling to ruin with moss and vines crawling up and down its walls. The ocean spinning into several holes in its walls. "This is Fort Eternal." Robin explained. "It's been assumed abandoned for many centuries, but what people don't know." He pushed a button on he projector and it moved downward, showing a vast network of rooms and tunnels with a massive chamber sitting at he very bottom part of the facility. "Is that Slade has built a secret facility underneath. Now according to the filed you and Cyborg acquired at Atlas Labs, the base is being used as a cloning facility. Which immediately makes me think-"
"Attack of the Clones." Peter interrupted. The others deadpanned at him for a few moments in silence. He simply shrugged at their reactions. "What? I saw an opportunity and took it."
"Yes Peter..." Robin rolled his eyes in amusement along with Raven. "It's actually exactly like that. Which means-"
"-worst case scenario, if Terra and Slade aren't there, we can at least cut his plans out by he root." Peter nodded, pounding his fist into his palm with determination.
Robin nodded at him in agreement, before pointing to one room near the surface. "Our first stop once we enter the facility will be to disable the security systems here." Then he looked to Peter with a nod. "Thats where you and Raven come in."
"Consider Slade VERY insecure." Peter nodded and folded his arms. Raven rolled her eyes at that with an amused smirk.
"After that..." Robin replied, scrolling to he very bottom. "Well go to this room here and destroy their fleet of subs and cut off his escape. After that... we fight Slade."
"Uh, dudes?... what happens if it's just another trap?" Beastboy asked.
"It's ALWAYS a trap." Raven groaned with a roll of the eyes.
"We can't afford any more traps!" The green Titan argued urgently. "This is Terra we're talking about!"
"Thats... another thing." Robin replied, then turned directly to face Beastboy. "We're gonna have to prepare ourselves for the very REAL possibility that... Terra doesn't want to be saved."
"Dudes, I'm telling you I could see it in her eyes." Beastboy insisted. "It was REAL."
"Beastboy..." Peter groaned with an apologetic tone. "My Spider senses... they only detect REAL danger... so whatever the case... this may end up being a lot more complicated than you expect."
"We just don't want you getting your hopes up only to be disappointed." Raven explained.
"Whatever." Beastboy shook his head. "We'll see."
"Alright, team!" Robin said in an authoritative tone. "This is it! We've been training together for months! We're stronger than we've ever been... all of us. There's nothing he can throw at us now that we can't handle! Watch each others backs. And let's take him down... once and for all."
Raven followed Peter to his room, already ready to go, and watched him from his bed. He changed out of his green hoodie and Grey pants into his Recluse armor. Raven eyed him up and down as he fixed the housing unit for his Spider Armor onto his wrist.
"I've gotta say." Raven nodded with a heated smile. "I do like the new outfit... dark colors really suit you."
"I was hoping you'd say that." Peter replied, winking his lenses back at her. "Maybe when we get back I'll let you try it on... just don't turn invisible. That'd be... counterproductive."
"Would it?" Raven replied with a teasing smirk. "I don't know. It could be fun." Peter blinked in surprise at her flirting back and she immediately went red in the face. "Oh my god." She groaned to herself. "Look at me, grinning like an idiot."
"No no no." Peter replied with a kind and sincere tone. "I like the smile. The smile's beautiful."
Raven blushed deeper before smiling back at him. "Thanks." She stood up from his bed. "Shall we hit the road?"
"Woo-hoo! I'm going to the Caribbean!" Peter shouted with excitement. Pumping his fists into the air as his bedroom door slid shut behind them.
