Forming A new connection

Ruth could not believe several weeks had passed since she met Thomas Caldwell. He was definitely growing on her gradually and pulling those walls down. Ruth never thought she could fall in love again after Caleb. But Thomas was so sweet and sincere and she knew she really liked him. She did not hold back on her beliefs, values, and standards. She did not believe in premarital sex but in progressive relationships built on honesty, communication, and trust.

She had talked with him extensively for hours on the phone and their conversations had been nice, informative, entertaining, and exciting. Every day they found time to simply talk and share about their lives. She learned so much about him, his family, and his travels. However, Thomas wanted to see her, hold her, hear that laugh and see that smile in person. He hoped he had proven himself but the phone conversations and written messages were not enough for him any longer.

Ruth got dressed for bed and scrolled through the movie channel waiting for her call from Thomas. He had a few business meetings and promise to catch up with her later that evening. When she was about to watch The Chosen series her phone rang instantly. She smiled from ear to ear knowing it was Thomas. Her heart raced and her radiant smile grew broader. She had to admit she anticipated hearing his deep and sultry voice daily.

"Hello," she said innocently. "My sweet Ruth, how are you?" Thomas beamed hearing her melodious voice. "I'm good Thomas," she grinned. "I missed you immensely today. I did not hear your lovely voice all day and my day felt incomplete not hearing it," he admitted. "Aww," Ruth teased humoring him. "You do realize you spoke to me twenty-four hours ago," she giggled. "It still was too long in my book," he grinned.

"Ruth........" Thomas paused ensuring she heard him clearly. "I have enjoyed talking to you on the phone over the past month but it is not good enough. I desperately want to take you out, see your smile and beautiful face," Thomas confessed. Ruth took a deep breath in. They had talked intensely for weeks and she knew so much about him. But was she ready to officially date him?

There was an awkward silence between them for a little while. Ruth paced the room pondering his request and making up her mind if she was ready. She swallowed and spoke from her heart.

"Thomas Caldwell I would love to go out with you," Ruth said biting her bottom lip. Thomas leaned back in his car seat in awe and happiness that she agreed. "I can't wait to see you. Would tomorrow be fine for our date?" he asked with enthusiasm. Ruth laughed at how anxious he was to be with her.  Then there was intense silence again. Thomas imagined seeing her biting her bottom lip. Her lips drove him crazy. For weeks he dreamed of kissing her and could not wait for the opportunity. It was worth a shot and he believed in seizing the moment. "Ruth, you have to know I am crazy about you. I am so honored just to know you and I look forward to our future dates. But tonight I want to embrace you and see your beautiful smile," he admitted praying it did not come across as inappropriate. Ruth smiled to herself and played along.

She knew he did not want to simply hug or see her smile alone. She felt that he wanted a kiss. "What are you trying to say?" she said folding her arms.   "Ruth Dawkins please do not torture me. I am asking permission to kiss you,"  he repeated softly. Ruth giggled at his eagerness and decided to put him out of his torture and misery. "I'll be waiting," she said warmly sending her location to him. "Thank you," he said wasting no time in getting to her.
