CHAPTER 9

Falling in Love

When Ruth opened her door Thomas stared at her as if he was seeing her for the first time. "You look beautiful," he said breathlessly as he gently took her hands. He was mesmerized by the flowing hair that hugged her face and the natural contour to her skin and the rosy lips. Ruth stood captivated by this handsome man who was slowly capturing her heart. 

He stepped inside her apartment and captured her lips. Her lips were better than he imagined and they both smiled as they kissed. Thomas was convinced his heart belonged to Ruth and hoped she would feel the same way about him.

The date

This was the best date Ruth had ever experienced. Thomas had closed down half of the restaurant so they would have their own private setting. He was pulling out all the stops and leaving Ruth in complete awe of their time together. "Are you having a good time?" he asked reaching for her hands across the table. Ruth stretched her hands in his and said, "Yes I am." 

"Well, the night is not over and I have more surprises," he beamed. "Thomas, this is more than enough. I am well pleased," she said not wanting him to go overboard. He took her hand and kiss it gently. "For you madam, this is not merely enough," He continued staring at her intensely. Ruth smiled realizing he had already made up his mind about the night and all she could do was bask in the events ahead. 

After enjoying their meal together Thomas escorted her to the limo he had rented for the evening. He blindfolded her for the next surprise. "Thomas, this is way too much," she said as the ride ended and he guided her outside the limo one more time.  He removed the blindfold and Ruth looked up and saw a helicopter on the terminal. Ruth turned and looked at him bewildered. "Why are we here?" she questioned afraid to ask what was next. Thomas's eyes lit up with anticipation smiling at her. He held her hands and escorted her inside the helicopter. "I am a licensed pilot he said. I would love to take you for a ride," he said. 

Ruth swallowed and looked on surprised and intrigued. Who was this man? Each time she thought she knew everything about him she gets surprised by more. "It's safe," he smiled making eye contact with her and kissing her hand. "Okay," she said trusting him. Thomas looked on honored to have her trust. 

Ruth enjoyed the helicopter ride over the city and smiled the entire time. Thomas was definitely sweeping her off her feet. They continued to enjoy their evening together basking in each other's presence. At the end of the night, Ruth was on a high after experiencing so many awesome experiences. Thomas was simply pleased to put that smile on her face. 

"Thank you for such a memorable night. You outdid yourself and I appreciated that you did this all for me," Ruth said squeezing his hand as they stood in front of her door. "Anything for you Ruth," he said. He gently rubbed his fingers on her lips and watched her with a steady gaze. Ruth's eyes beamed as she watched him. He gently bowed his head and kissed her. Ruth melted in his arms and held on to him to stay steady. "Thank you for a fabulous night," Thomas confessed as he hugged her. "Goodnight," Ruth said as he drove away. Ruth collapsed on her sofa and laughed recalling her night. She felt like a princess.

After taking a shower she checked her phone and saw messages from Malissa and Serenity. "Please give us a call," Serenity wrote. "Hurry up. We want details," Malissa added. Ruth laughed at her friend's messages. She proceeded to call them and share details about the date.
