Six Months Later- The Wedding

Ruth looked up at her friends Malissa and Crystal. She was so happy to have them as her maid of honor and bridesmaid. She missed Serenity and knew she would be happy on a day like this. The church was filled with flowers, family, friends, and well-wishers. Ruth was about to be Mrs. Michael Cambridge and she was ecstatic. The wedding planning, counseling, and practices all went smoothly. Ruth was happy that she was the bride and would soon have a real family for David. Her heart melted the other day when they all sat down together for a dinner as a family. David was so smart beyond his years and always amazed her. "I am happy to have you both as my mom and dad," he beamed. Ruth and Michael held hands on his words and both shed a tear over his confession. "Auntie Ruth and Uncle Michael, can I call you Mom and Dad?" he requested with bright eyes and anticipation. Ruth was stunned at his request. She never put pressure on him to call her Mom at all. He wanted this and she was at a loss for words. "Of course, it would be our honor," Michael said holding Ruth's hands trying not to get too emotional.

Ruth stood looking similar to a princess in a simple yet elegant wedding gown that looked painted on her slim body. She was a very beautiful woman who hardly showed her curves. But today her wedding dress was absolutely breathtaking. The embroidery, rhinestones, and slight reveal of the shoulders were modest but alluring at the same time. Ruth was a beautiful bride from head to toe. When Malissa and Crystal saw her they cheered in approval. "OMG, you are a knockout," Malissa said holding her mouth. "Michael will not know what to do with himself when he sees you," Crystal teased. "Thank you both," Ruth said getting emotional. "Don't cry, you will mess up your makeup," they both warned. Ruth fanned her eyes and obeyed. She was ready to walk down the aisle and begin her new life.

Michael stood focused on the church hallway watching for Ruth's entrance. He was so happy to become her husband and David's father. He felt so blessed. Ruth and David completed him and he planned to love, cherish and them for a lifetime. As the music played in the background and he saw her being escorted by her stepfather, Michael stood speechless as tears rolled down his eyes. This woman was radiant on the outside and within. He had never met anyone so naturally beautiful in more ways than one.

What a magnificent bride! he thought watching her approach. He knew God had favored him with Ruth and could not help smiling. She stood in front of him emotionally as well shedding a few tears. The best man wiped Michael's eyes and the maid of honor gently wiped Ruth's eyes as well. There was not a dry eye in the room. They held each other hands to repeat their personal vows to each other followed by traditional vows.

Michael, you are the man of my dreams. God has blessed me with you and indeed I am grateful. Your smile, kindness, thoughtfulness, and love for our son are commendable. When I had given up on love you came into my life and  I found it.  You are a strong, driven, and loving Christian man who speaks and loves from the heart. You are my everything to have to hold, from this day forward in sickness and in health, as long as we both should live. I love you now and forever.

The pastor announced to the congregation, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride. Michael removed the veil from Ruth's face and eagerly kissed her taking her breath away. The congregation cheered the new couple Mr. & Mrs. Michael Cambridge. Ruth had found the true love of her life.
