Scarlett's POV
The penthouse immediately falls silent, my beating heart being the only sound echoing throughout the walls. The clacking of the keys continue to rattle just outside the door. It seems that whoever is attempting to enter, is struggling.
Goosebumps slowly rise along my arms as I feel a negative shift in the ambiance. Y/n wouldn't have a hard time unlocking her own door, would she? What if someone's trying to break in and I've been a sitting duck this whole time.
My nerves spike up at the thought of being someone's prey. Suddenly, I notice the door knob budge ever so slightly. I act quick and run towards y/n's kitchen island, instantly crouching down avoiding any eyes on me.
Then, the sound of the door cracking open increases my fear exponentially. I can't help but internally scold myself for getting into this situation. The door shuts and I hear the distinct sound of footsteps approaching.
I suddenly flinch at the sound of keys being thrown onto the island surface, indicating that whoever just entered is quite close.
The lights are still off, maybe I can make a run for it unnoticed. As I contemplate the decision, I ultimately decide that escaping is far better than potentially dying.
I take a couple deep breath's to gain some sort of courage, as well as to compose myself. I then inch forward to peek through the corner of the island and my eyes don't seem to see any sign of a person nearby.
I immediately stand up and tip-toe my way towards the exit, I'd rather not raise any suspicion with my heels clacking on the floor so I'll just take each step slow and steady.
I continue my way as well as scanning my surroundings, making sure that I don't knock over any items or stumble into furniture.
I feel my heart instantly drop as I feel my phone vibrate and ring in my pocket.
Shit.
This can't be happening, not now. It must be Colin, I told him I would be at school grading papers.
I quickly pick up my pace despite my heels causing chaos amongst the floor.
I then feel a pair of strong hands on my shoulders trying to stop me from escaping.
There's no way in hell I'm letting them stop me, certainly not without a fight. I turn around kicking and kneeing them aggressively.
They stumble to their knees and to the ground, groaning.
I internally pat myself on the shoulder, I honestly didn't think it would be that easy. I look down to examine the individual and an all too familiar person, or should I say student of mine, lays upon the floor.
Is that? no it can't be.
"Y/n?" I question.
she groans "Please, make yourself at home."
I ignore her sarcastic remark and mentally scold myself for being so ignorant. No wonder it was so easy taking her down, she wasn't trying to murder me. Hell she isn't even an intruder, I am.
Way to go Scarlett.
I quickly bend down to her level, which happens to be the floor, seeing as how I may or may not have injured her... sensitive area.
"Are you okay?" I ask.
She scoffs "Yes, I'm wonderful. I just so happen to be on the floor for fun." She hisses.
I sigh knowing that she has every right to be annoyed with this whole situation, and me, but it was truly an honest mistake.
She clears her throat "Top shelf in the fridge, do you mind?" She asks while gesturing towards her crotch.
